If that motion is made again IMPEACH 'EM

As I said before the WBCCI was used as a pawn by AirStream with the past officers, let's hope the new leaders don't get corrupted.

Now I will join!

I've been waiting to hear how the vote went before joining. Obviously, I am happy with the result and will sign up! If it comes up again for a vote, I'll be a part of the NO votin block. Now the only thing to decide is what unit to join. Leaning towards the Washington DC unit. Is the VAC a unit? I guess I'll start a new thread to ask for any thoughts on units.

That is a great question!!! on the VAC - it should be - although I have not been to any I would say that the newer trend of up and coming Units are taking on the "values" of the Vac Rallies - FUN and simple with an added twist of nastalgia - being that there are still rigs from 50+ years ago still on the road....kind of makes the new ones all that much more important - gives them a history and a backbone don't ya think. I would love a new one but I am too much into playing with the older ones right now. Looking at fixing it yourself or drag your rig to a dealer to fix - easy decision for us right now....But I sure do like these new sport models they are building!!!

We joined the WDCU for all the wrong reasons - but it sure paid off with the voting on this past issue. Even though the voting is still way out of wack across the units change happens one unit at a time.

WDCU has a great group of people from all situations - and a result of not so great situations too which makes it a really diversified group. We have yet to participate in a function and meet some of the members of our new Unit - we keep heading over to MI ( thats where all the good trailer parts - yep parts not parks)

Maybe we can join in one of the Fall events they have???

Glad you decided to join -regardless of this last issue - I am sure the IBT will come up with another "silly and expensive" issue to mull over for a year, ignoring it's members and turning a blind eye to the real important issues - so nevermind them just work from the ground up - eventually the top will fall off and a new era will evlove...

The VAC is an Intraclub of the WBCCI and not a Unit. Any member of the WBCCI may join the VAC. If your Airstream is 25 years old you can be a regular member. If it is younger you can be an associate member. The WDCU and the VAC is a good combination. More information about the VAC can be found here:

Maybe the big "issue" for next year will be getting the VAC back in line and submitting to the authority of the International Leadership.

I listened to the Board meeting and was appalled at the public tongue lashing that was given to the VAC incoming president. She showed a lot of composure. I wonder how the later "private meeting" turned out.

Dudebb, Glad your going to join. Forget all the IBT stuff and just enjoy camping with your Airstream and the friends by the campfire. The WBCCI just needs some new and younger ideas...

Be patient folks. Normal attrition through old age and illness will do what the very vocal can not do, create change in the executive .

I know, people are living longer now, but if they know we are just waiting for them to croak or collapse they may start to realize that leaving a legacy of change for the good of the club is better than being looked at as stifling and killing off the very club they obviously love so much.

So, sit back, count the days, from time to time pop them an email asking how their health is holding up and you are wondering if they are, in their own vintage status, able to handle the responsibilities of a club with these dynamics, and they will get the mood of the club.

Yes, it HAS been one of "those" kinds of mornings.....

While some may think it has to do with age - I am against that really - I think it has more to do with "attitude".

Yes, Sharon, you are absolutely correct, it is not about age at all excepting the age of those currently in place is likely (best guess on my part) at the upper end. Although I made my post mostly in jest (Donna asks me if I am ever serious and I say of course - when she is driving I'm seriously scared silly - darn, another bruise).

Attitudes are changing everywhere. What was considered acceptable even just a couple of years ago is often now put aside and new ideas are being considered everywhere.

One wonders if there is some level of insulation around the executive and if they are actually getting the messages from the people they have actually agreed to, and been voted to, serve. What would it take - a list of five or ten things that would start the change, perhaps based on the survey of a few years ago, and then accompanied by several thousand individual emails from WBCCI members supporting and requesting the changes be considered/made? I don't know - I've seen attitudes changed in a heartbeat in the past, and these are good people who are in these roles now. They just are not thinking the way I would like them to think. Maybe I am wrong but based on the many comments I've read here I don't think I am out of key with the many members who have used this forum to voice their thoughts. The executive must be hearing from those they go to for validation that they are doing an OK job or they would look at change. Those are the people we need to convince IMHO.

During the VAC presentation and accompanying "paternal corrections" of VAC directed to the interclub's spokesperson, one IBP member made reference to the "forum" when addressing what he as an IBT boardmenber regards as negativism about WBCCI. I can only assume he means this forum, but he seems to be reading defensively: hearing only the complaints and giving deaf ear to the deep concern for WBCCI that underlies forum/WBCCI posts. How will these disparate points of view EVER meet? Let's hope they also read and compile and then prioritize for significant action the points on our thread about Improving the WBCCI. (And we are 60-somethings, so we don't believe that just age is the issue here) ~G

You are right G - if we hated the club so much - would many of us who are disappointed with the club still be members - nevertheless take out TWO memberhsip in the same family - maybe we are just stupid "eh".

I also heard very clear the presidents comments to the other gentleman following the recess. That he has to recognize that there are a great number of members who are not happy.

It was ashame that Shari was the brunt of that - and there was absolutely no need for it to happen at the IBT. But I have seen it happen at other Board functions of a different organization. Easy pickens - new blood, (hate to say it - but female too plays a role - just look at how many of the gentleman introduced their wives - times have changed but not for all. It was endearing to hear some of the board members and the times they have been involved and too many times I think we all forget that "Human" aspect.

So for many out there if we are not happy - it most likely will be not happy with our own units - so the solution - try to make a change in the unit -if that does not work then move onto another unit or even better try to form a new unit with like minded people or interests.

Additional units is what will grow the club.

The IBT had some good points - increasing expectations, and requirements of rigs larger events, dwindling volunteer base - longer terms (tours- millitant terminology is used quite frequently)

maybe that 3000 rigs at the older Internationals -was because they all did not expect the technology and services that many do today.

Camping in a field boondocking at a much reduced cost - would attract a lot more people I think or at least a different dynamic of people. When I am at the delicate age I will probably want my comforts too. I do marvel at the new rigs capabilities that are never used though.

And to think of the fun I just had meeting people, experiencing campground in a trailer that only had a plug for a fan and my kettle. I am not a kid in a tent - but I still had fun

someone with more smarts and equipment than I have needs to record, enhance and transcribe the 'off microphone' comments made by our leaders starting after the "stand at ease" and go until just after the first vote count was announced. You'll hear things like...
'we need two thirds...' ' we don't even have half'...'they voted no, I'm not going to their rallies (female voice)' '...they think they've won the other one' 'need 4160...not even close' 'this is the number it took to pas...(different voice) I know...' Right after it was announced that the motion is not passed, following the cheers is a (same) female voice 'tell them they'd better step up to the plate'.

I personally am not impressed with the immature comments that I heard. Just wish I could amplify/enhance it all to see what else was said, ' off mic'.
