Why are they not archiving the broadcast of the meeting, as they said they would, do we know?

I attended the Larry Huttle presentation. My notes and recollection indicate that he presented an OPTION for the Club that would involve Re-Badging a Damon / Four Winds (now merged) Motorhome as an Airstream IF the club made a significant commitment. Airstream is NOT producing Class As and these motorhomes would not be Airstream products.

My impression from his suggestion is that the Club had been asking for an option, not that Larry Huttle and Airstream wanted to re-badge Damon / Four Winds products.

The Club is for owners of products manufactured by Airstream, Inc. This change would require a revision to the Constitution. 2/3 of members must agree. I can't believe they are asking again for the 3rd time in 4 years.

This was our 3rd International Rally and never before have we seen so many Silver Bullet's on the road. We have been all over Wyoming, Montana, and Utah and we have seen more Airstreams than we could count. Merchants have asked us over and over again about so many Airstreams on the road. We're talking about a lot of Airstreams.

This is the best advertisement for Airstream and WBCCI for they look like no other product. When an Airstream comes down the road there is no mistaking what it is.

I would hate to see the Airstreams, the Silver Bullet Motorhomes and the Argosy's leave WBCCI.

Can I ask for some clarification on the Larry Huttle talk? Was he speaking of badge engineering as GM and Ford do? the VIN will identify the vehicle as an Airstream product?
or simply a "WBCCI Edition" decal on another brand? In Perry GA he and I think Mandalays president (?) were adamant that due to contractual dealer arangements, and warranty service issues.....no way no how would the VIN be Airstream. You'd have to go to the Mandaley dealer and order the WBCCI trim package. Which means an SOB in the club.
I find it hard to believe they would have changed their postion. I'd also really like to know exactly how many MH owners there are in the club, and how many really want an SOB.....I'm guessing the number is very very small......

I came across this on a unit site. The insight is quite correct and the suggestion warrants consideration.

Quote

Someone will have to champion the cause and I believe the IBT has worn out all
those who have been in a position to do anything about it!

So, new blood and leadership will be necessary to continue the fight.
Complacency more aptly describes the situation than apathy. The younger members
of our club still work and this is not something that really affects them with
all they have to do to keep working and raise families...quite simply it is not
a priority.

The flip side of this is that, the Motor home owners, many of whom live in
theirs, at least part of the time, have much to lose. Not having a qualified
unit to belong to the club puts them out of touch with long time friends and
associates.

So there is a lot at stake for them and much more desire to make this happen no
matter the cost or the number of attempts (yearly if necessary)!

The end result is that we will no longer be a single manufacturer club and there
will be pressure after that, to allow other makes and models. There is already a
number of all makes and model clubs out there, most people have joined this club
for the love of Airstreams and the people who own them!

My solution is quite simple! Divide the club into caravaners, all makes and
models, and campers, airstreams only, with money allocated by membership
depending on which part of the club you belong to!

The club officers would be reduced and the club divided by the two Chapters with
6 region representatives for each Chapter. No more IBT and the members in each
club get to decide how their money is spent with an allocation to Jackson Center
to manage the business end of the club. Club business would be a local unit vote
1Member-1 Vote with the accounting of major changes taken at JC and reported
back to the membership. The International officers, a reduced number, would
be charged with setting up an International Rally as their sole responsibility
with the cost born out of the real cost to run the rally.

This is, with some exception, the way the Vintage Club has operated for 16
years, travelling to International, managing the VAC Events and Parade all on a
volunteer basis. Not one dime was spent for travel!

It can be done, but we need a fulltime leader. And because the deck is stacked
in favor of the present organization, it will take insolvency before that leader
will be able to take any action to change the status quo!

What does IF the club made a significant commitment mean? Monetary, numbers ????

And the 3rd time in 4 years? That seems rather driven to get this pushed through, IMO.

Thank you Bill!!!!

The July 5th 4:50 meeting (issue came up after 8 pm ET) at 1 hour 20 minute mark into that recording, Motion 7 Motorhomes

The discussion of grievances changes immediately precedes the motorhome discussion. This was not the first discussion about grievances throughout the four days of meetings but this particular time it is over the motion to extend to 60 days the limit of time to file. Those comments are well worth a listen as well.

There are also many issues we may want to discuss that have great impact upon the members. I know there are hours to listen to, so if you would like a reference and index refer to each meeting day thread comments as a locator. Check your time zones for variation.

OHH I thought you wanted someone to post the transcript on WBCCI's forums knowing it would be moved to the private forum. Anyway why is it that you are blocked? When did that happen?

Maggie can you google a wma player that works on Mac and download it? My recordings are mp3 but very large. There really is a reason for recording and sharing the file for Mac users, not unscrupulous! Also some may be hearing impaired and need to read it. I don't see provision for the accessability of all.

Does WBCCI post or release the transcript? How do we all get one or view it?

We just listened to the simulcast.
If the IBT is gleaning motorhome ownership information from Airstream Corp. I just emailed the sales dept who still has us as owners of a 1999 35ft Cutter Diesel, Coach #710622. I ask Deb Wuebbenhorst to scratch our name as being a Class A Diesel Motorhome owner, so we will not be part of the statistic. I ahve always wonder where the lite green and white coach ended up. We traded it in fall of 2000, and next owner had it for 5 months and traded in down in Florida. Every International since Springfield 2005 we have looked for it. So far, it hasn't been to an International that we have been.

I did get in and listened. What has been posted with respect to John Turner's comment is accurate. The interesting stuff comes after his comments from others. You should listen.

A question was asked if the report could contain a MOTION? Talk about circumventing the system.
