I think they are NOT worth fighting for, they ( the leadership that needs to go) but the club is worth fighting for. We need to take a stand and let them know that they can't keep doing stupid things. The leadership needs to be called out every time they do something dumb. I don't plan on going anywhere, but the leadership of the WBCCI needs to know that they can't keep doing these odd things and think that we are going to stand by and take it.
Join the WBCCI and change the future of the club.
Me, I am going to build a float with USA flags! (Why do I see an Animal House flash back?)
OK, Ed you make a good point, I will start by protesting to my unit and region Pres. However, I still have a hard time believing ruke 8 is for real. I will check it out first.

By all means. Check with your Unit President. He must have recieved a copy of the parade rules. Whether he read them or not is another issue. Our President read the rules and plans to print them in our next unit news letter.
Remember....Rule #8.....It is ONLY on 4th of July Parade floats that you may not fly the US flag. I know of no other time at the Bozeman Rally that it is not allowed. However, it smells just the same as if the had prohibited the flag alltogether.
And Ed....You are right. It's not "the club". It's a few people at the top who do not appear to be too smart. It is they who must be fought and replaced. I hope that the membership is all made aware of this unpatriotic rule, and the names of those who came up with it.
Our unit plans no float in the parade, but if it did, you can bet your sweet Airstream it would have US flags on it. We, as other units, have X-Army, Marine, Air Force and Navy people. When this all comes out, I'm sure there will be more than a few upset people.
I am a retired Parade Float Designer & Builder. That was my occupation. I have designed & built over 100 floats and driven and been involved in hundreds of parades.
NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING....
NO AMERICAN FLAGS ? ?
ON THE PARDE FLOATS ???
ON THE 4TH of JULY ????
There is always a first for anything but this is STUPID.....
Sure glad I won't be there. I would probably get in trouble..... because I can always come up with a parade float or 3.
All I can say is "What the H---?" First they only want us to follow the Blue Book flag rules, then they say no USA flags on the 4th, next they will tell me I'm not allowed to go to the 4th fireworks display!
I think every parade float should show up with all kinds of flags flying!
Me I'm going to Bozeman with my NEW 5 flag holder on the 68 flying a new range of flags every day! US, Canada, Mexico, WI, Past Presidents, VAC, WBCCI, Airstream, Packers, Cleveland Indians, POW-MIA, US Army, and what ever else I can find to fly. Come join me and fight "Flag Flying" WBCCI oppression! Its a MOVEMENT!
This whole thing sounds like a communist plot!
YOU GO BOY! I never intended to go to Bozeman to begin with, but this makes me want to go. I'd fly any pretty flag I want, from the skull & cross bones, to the Walley flag, but right up front & large I'd FLY THE RED WHITE AND BLUE!
Jeeze! Where are these tuxido clad bozos taking THE CLUB?
Have your own members parade in protest. Gosh who made that handful the boss of you, oh yeah they nominated themselves and have prevented any attempt to open the bottleneck. Good luck with that.

(oh now I will get hate email because I called the leadership of the WBCCI "nuts")
but they are............................................... ..
Ed and My Fellow Alumilovers,
As much as I agree with the above statement, there's an important matter of flag etiquette. As a participating veteran of 100's of parades [See: Norwood Brass Firemen] I so often see Old Glory absolutely trivialized by both those participating and attending parades. I have seen flags draped over pet dogs, used as bunting, stapled to hay wagons, used as a cape, tied into rosettes, etc., ad nausium. I've nothing against patriotism, but not demonstrated by disrespecting Old Glory. In most cases, stars & stripes bunting will serve the purpose.
Then, there's the matter of honoring or saluting the flag as it passes. I'll bet not 1% of the folks I've marched before salute or otherwise show respect as the flag passes. But for those that do, can you imagine trying to salute each and every one as it is paraded by, including the one on the dog!
The better class parades in which I've participated, including 2 US Presidential Inaugurations, have had ONE US flag at the beginning, and usually one at the front of each division. This is so the flag will not be trivialized to the point of being ignored.
So, I guess I've vented a bit, but here's one WBCCI leadership decision I actually "get".
Happy Trails! John / NXBW
Who won't be anywhere NEAR Bozman on the 4th of July.
