Jan 2014 IBT
Has anyone heard or seen anything about the motions, etc being put forward at the IBT. Wonder if the MoHo issue is still alive?

Don't ask a WBCCI member! You'll jinx it! Better to let it die from neglect than to keep asking about it and thereby reminding people to put it back on the docket again and again.

Next IBT will be in January 2014. The provisional South East Camping unit will get its charter and flag approved. The national officers will enjoy a rally in the south, to escape the snow.

The committee reports where due to HQ on Dec 1st. Same for most of the motions. I believe the official agenda will be mailed out next week. When we get a copy I will try to post the highlights here.
And can someone change the Topic to 'Jan 2014 IBT'

here is their website: Southeastern Camping Unit (012) | Moving WBCCI Forward!
They look to be a younger spin off of the Georgia unit, but also have members from the surrounding states. The Georgia unit holds most rallies at the Top of Georgia, which they own, and start most rallies on Wednesdays.

Meeting Agenda was emailed out this morning, here are the highlights of the 12 motions. These are my quick notes leaving out much details.
1. Modify Constitution Section 3 Article XI for Units outside of the USA and Canada
2. Modify Bylaws Article VI for Unit outside the USA, to make sure they are non-profit to comply with US Tax code.
3. Modify Bylaws, combine Policy S Public Relations, and Policy T Rally Promotions, and make them Policy S Public Relations and Rally Promotions
4. Change name of "Down Under Unit" to "Airstream Club Australia"
5. Move the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from Region 4 to Region 7
6. Grant Charter to "Southeastern Camping Unit", unit has 35 members.
7. Approve flag for "Southeastern Camping Unit", cool flag
8. Change description of 'Historical' Committee to reflect current duties
9. Update Rally report form to include number of people at event, not just RVs
10. Change International Rally Date requirements to between June 20 and July 30, drop the July 4th requirement.
11. Updates to Section 7, IR, Article XVI with concern about IR finances and early parking.
12. Modify Constitution Article VI, Sec 2 B: to allow HQ to collect Unit dues, allowing renewals on wbcci.org and via HQ directly.

I like the Southeastern unit flag! I like Antsy's artwork. I got to see him do a Floyd in person a couple of times at Alumapaluza.

10. Change International Rally Date requirements to between June 20 and July 30, drop the July 4th requirement.
This is not enough of a change. Why not change it to late spring or early fall when the weather is not so hot.

If one wants to attract younger members, many of whom still have young children, then the International still needs to be held in the summer months when kids are out of school. Even if you don't care about holding the International to coincide with Wally Byam's Birthday (he died before I was born, so I don't much care if the rally is on his actual birthday or not), you're still not going to escape holding the rally in the summer months.
But I can see the benefit of getting away from July 4th. That day is the absolute pinnacle of Camping Season, when everyone with an RV or a tent is out camping, and everyone with a barbecue grill is out grilling. A rally that includes Independence Day runs up the cost versus one that doesn't include the holiday due to demand for campsites, and higher cost is one potential source of lower attendance.
Not to mention, Independence Day is one of the traditional "family" holidays, and while you may be a hard-core Airstreamer, your parents, siblings, adult kids, in-laws, and other family members might not be. People shouldn't have to choose between spending holiday time with family and spending the time with fellow Airstreamers. Making it so they don't have to choose could also help bring up attendance figures for the International.

I'm too dimwitted to think this through this morning, so a question: If the proposal to alter the date requirements for the International Rally is approved, what would be the first international rally for which this proposal would show results? (These things are planned contractually pretty far in advance.)

The third VP gets to pick his location for "his" rally, so I would think the new rules would apply then. Some day we may have a lady International President. We have quite a few lady Region Presidents in the last couple of years. If GM and Yahoo can be headed by women, why not WBCCI?

Two additional Motions have been posted.
http://www.wbcci.org/general-informa.../finish/41/489
13. Change IBT voting process, to record who voted and how they vote, so it's in the meeting minutes and the permanent record. Votes will be via Roll call.
14. Change wording on how vacancies of Region Presidents/Vice/etc are handled.
