International Rally & Generators

I understand that there is a generator section at the International rally.

I'm interested in knowing if generators can be run through the night or are there specified times when it can be run and when it cannot. I use a CPAP machine for sleeping and would need to run the generator through the night. I'm also aware that 30 amp electric is available for $255 but I'm not sure that I want to be parked on asphalt in Madison for a week.

Also are there any other requirements regarding generators. I have a Honda EU 2000.

I'm interested in hearing from those who have attended prior International rallies and have stayed in the generator section.

Thanks for your input.

Dave,

Contact your CPAP supplier and get a 12V dc plug.

You will also have motorhomes in the generator section.

I would think that the CPAP would run on the 3 amp that you get with out extra charge, especialy at night when most are not using any electric. Check the rating to see how many amps it needs.

I know I was in the generator section this year, and the people next to us ran their generator all night, Althought it was quite, it still kept me up most nights.

My CPAP draws <2 amps without the heater on' only 4.5 amps with the heater. While yours may exceed those figures, I find my trailer's house battery handles the draw-down without a problem. Having a 3 amp feed to your Univolt, if you have eliminated the worst of your phantom loads, there shouldn't be any difficulty running the CPAP, the refrigerator control board and the battery charger portion of the Univolt.

Hello Bluebird;

I have been on a CPAP for past 4-5 years. I attended the International in Salem and paid for the electricity. Not sure for 6-8 days if it's worth the amount they charge. I have a 140 watt inverter that I run my CPAP through when I am boondocking. It works fine as it does not draw the batteries down. I do however carry a 3000 Yamaha generator when I boon dock.
Check out the registration form for the International. As a person that requires oxygen and CPAP at night I have been able to get my doctor to write a letter that qualifies as a handicapped and there should be discounts given for that. You may have to park on pavement because of the handicapped status which I know you don't want to do.
We keep debating upon the rally in Madison but will probably wait and go to Gillette, Wy.
