The last 2 IP knew that change was needed and did nothing. In fact the last one did all he could to kill the change that was on the table with his you will have to leave speech to the Delegates and the one before that kicked the can down the road.
The last change of any magnitude was the dissension to use plastic bases on the award statues and fewer white cotton gloves.

What was the dress code at the installation of officers?

Could that be WBCCI folks looking normal? I always thought this couldn't be possible.
Great picture, looks like a fun rally.

It was a great rally! The new Region 7 President really pulled out all the stops planning this.
The rally was timed and placed to coincide with the 26th annual New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run. Welcome
(When they say antique, they mean antique! To participate the cars have to be 1908 or older, except that 1909-1915 qualify if they have 2 or fewer cylinders)
Our rally was one of the stops on the pre-run tour. We had a gaggle of antique cars in the campground for an hour and then we all repaired to the nearby American Legion for a buffet lunch to swap stories. (And they do have some stories!)
Below, a 1911 Maxwell drives into the campground, and a bunch of antique cars parked in our Happy Hour area.

I'm fairly confident I would not have let all those wonderful cars leasve without having one back up to my trailer for a ultimate tow vehicle kodak moment!

To the Next Level
Everything must start somewhere. Maybe next year at the International Rally they to can install the new IBT around a campfire. I'm thinking of using logs 8-12-14 feet long logs, flames 30 feet into the air, (small stage of course to make it formal), beer truck off to the right with some good PA beer (PBR, Yuengling, Lord Chesterfield Ale, etc..) with a small band to play music that everyone can just chill out and eat some great food.
Now that would be Cool.
Enjoy,

Let's expand this idea.
How about a new International Rally around Labor Day with all the upbeat features and entertainment that seems to be desired by many members? This rally would be considered a supplement to the traditional International business meeting rally.
Time to take a serious lesson from Airstream Inc.
Rally theme could be "Celebrate everyday. Live the Airstream way of life."
Take bids from progressive WBCCI units willing to host this rally in the truly best places in the country. Organize events and activities that will be of interest to the membership.
Make this rally shine as the absolute standard of how a rally should be held.

I've been trying to decide whether to post this, as I don't want to get Jim in trouble with the higher-ups, but I decided what the heck--you might as well hear the rest of the story of the Region 7 installation.
Don't miss an opportunity to hear the new 3rd VP speak, because he's a great extemporaneous speaker. And you never know what he's going to say. He can be as outrageous as Ed Emerick--and those of you who know Ed, know--that's saying something!
His installation ceremony consisted of a brief musing on some of the great things that have taken place around campfires throughout history, followed by the obligation of the candidates. They were asked to respond to the question of their knowledge of the duties of their respective offices (which were not enumerated) with the words Ya, shooor, and to indicate their willingness to accept these responsibilities with the words, You bet!. (This was, after all, Minnesota!)
As the new region officers so responded, and the audience dissolved into laughter and applause, Jim's wife Raisin added, "I think this is 'the new approach'!"
When was the last time you saw a region installation get a standing ovation?

My wife Kathy (far right in picture) got a ride in one of the "cars" down to the Legion for the lunch. It did not have a steering wheel. It had a tiller. She was pretty excited.

We got quite a nice report from our President and members who attended this International. Their reports can be found on our webpage: www.campnova.com

One of the more telling statements from the report mentioned above. I suggest you might want to read more of that report.
My own opinion no real progress was made for the important issues for the club. What was obvious is that a significant group is developing to demand change.
The "disgruntles mere members" are now a significant group.
