This would instantly satisfy all our reasons to belong to the wb! I envision this unit to be similar to the WDC unit, existing and doing business in cyberspace (no off-season luncheons). I may bring this up to our group rallying in Trout Lake, WA this weekend and see what their response would be. Janet has already proposed a cyber unit on another thread..this just gets it to a more regional basis.
Count me in. How do I join the Pacific Northwest Forums Unit? We had a great time at the Silver Falls Rally, meeting other airstreamers in a casual setting. (Would have loved going to the Trout Lake Rally, but had to work.)

2air had a great idea - take our forums member number (there is one isn't there?) and put it in BLUE on our trailers

Good news -- no resignation from rgesch!!!

I just heard the good news that rgesch is not resigning from her unit! Woohoo! rgesh has received support/commitment from many people within her unit and within Region One to work together on their unit. Please join me in helping to support the WMNHU and their BOD in their revitilization efforts.

well perhaps this is a good thing for a local unit...
and maybe not.

for whatever reason a younger, do'er became upset with wb politics, personalities and procedures....

they threatened to quit, take the ball home and start a new game...

they spent a lot of keystrokes here whine'n about becoming a mal...

never really mal quality material anyway...

now someone has groveled enough to keep them...

politics as usual...

nothing changes...

the abusive husband says...."i'm sorry, it won't happen again"

the wounds fade and spouse gets a new car...

more wbcci sameold someold...

what you need in that unit are some meal stealers and moochers...

they get attention!

cheers

I never heard any "whining". I did hear and see alot of well thought out questions and thoughtful answers. BTW, what is "mal quality material"?

No, not politics as usual. It is change and change is good.

That's one way to look at it, a very negative one. Another way to look at it is that what doesn't break us only makes us stronger. By "us" I mean WBCCI. I see a lot of strength in people like R&Rgesch, who can go through what they have with their unit, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and still have it in their hearts to sit down and talk things through and re-commit themselves to this group. As those who know them have said all along, these are good leaders, the kind that we should neither disrespect nor let get away from us. Good karma to the WMNHU leadership and other Region leaders for renewing confidence and support in team rgesch!

well yuko and dougjamie...

i'm happy for ya really...

just let us know in a year if any real change has taken place...

and what exactly changed?

i haven't suggested they are not good leaders....

in all likely hood they are just that...

and in some units ne1 with a pulse fits that description...

but some one DID start a thread here on quitting and a new unit....

http://www.airforums.com/forum...highlight=unit

this did work people up...

http://www.airforums.com/forum...highlight=unit

when they had yet to even officially resign....

or settle emotionally from the events leading up to the drama...

my point is, in retrospect, this appears to have been a lot of posturing

perhaps needed, clearly from someone energetic...but tired.

and nothing changed...they did not resign...
no one was demoted or fired or cast away...

so report in a year what exactly is new...
in the old wbcci...

cheers

I am an new AS owner and not a WBCCI member. However, I have been involved in the upstart of a chartered regional club for a motorcycle brand and was their 2nd President. I have to tell you it is not easy to organize and manage a club but some national organizations make it easier to manage than others. The bottom line is that the WBCCI is associated to the AS brand. The emphasis should be enjoying the comraderie of individuals who enjoy that common brand. The MC club I was involved with had folks who liked riding in groups, others liked riding solo. Some enjoyed campouts, others prefered day trips. Everyone liked to eat... There was something for everyone to do and they can be involved at any level. At the National Rally (and some of the larger regional rallies) the "Old Guard" marked their turf and the politics of "the association" was there for those who are in to that kind of thing. Those who were there for the good time had a good time. The virtual club associated with that brand also had a strong presence as well (FYI Everyone is the President). Let's face it, there are far more MC's than AS!

As a non-member, I am not here to say what the WBCCI should or should not do, but I have not gotten involved because I want to usewhat limited camping time I have to enjoy my vacation time, meet new folks, and get out and camp.

hi chuck...

i assume your comment is directed this way?

careful now...you need to remain "polite" right?

we do take being polite 'seriously' here correct?

look this is just a thread...

an alternate view is not distructive...

except to those who cannot process thinking another way...

folks are happy the unit pres did not quit...

some are reporting change is coming...

i just asked what change and when and tell us about it if it happens....

could i be the only person thinking that?

unlikely...but i am a member of the wb and a member here

and care enough to ask the question or elevate the thought process...

above the whoopeeee mentality...

does that try YOUR patience?

or are you still trying to convice us...

that tightening your load bars elevates the hitch head off the ball....

not that is trying patience...

ever get any pics of that magical event?

is it ok to question strange things here?

or strange to question things here?

cheers

well said coldespresso....

and at one time airstream owned the wbcci and the club prospered....

they have been a separate entity now for 25 years or so...
and not prospered on their own.

some old members and many new, want to think the club was always independent....but this isn't true. and several times during these seprate years...a/s has offered quite financial support...

some think a/s involvement would be bad...when it has only been helpful for the club..financially, administratively. membership wise....and so on....

the biggest threat to the wbcci is the wbcci...well and the vac

like always the enemy is within...

it IS just camping and folks wanting fun will find it...

finding fun inside the club does happen...

but many more a/s owners find happiness outside the club....

the wbcci isn't listening to this...

they are too busy protecting a sinking ship....

even rgesch posted that to make it better it needed to be burned down....

forum functions provide a great and easy alternative to wb rallies....

and there will be a new airstream club modeled on the harley hog club....

just watch for it and in the mean time

go camping!

cheers

Now, I don't know what this has to do with the price of tea in China, but no, I never took any pics. I will, if that pleases you.

yeah, here's a strange thing I'd like to question:
why do some feel an endless need to knock down others in an attempt to elevate themselves? And why do these people feel "elevated"...when most see that they're doing just the opposite?

I don't want my Airstream club to be modeled after a HOG group. Then I would have to buy clothes with all of the labels on them. I would have to take off the mufflers and be really loud. And I would have to talk about what an Easy Rider I am, I'm a rebel, when really I'm just like everybody else who loves Airstreams. Now if an Airstream club was built on the principles of the BMW Riders Association....yippee! I would get a bracelet at rallies that would get me into the beer tent. I would get to see incredible workshops at national rallies. I would get to camp in a huge field with all of my other Airstream buddies. And we could laugh and carry on. I love the fact that we are like everybody else who owns an Airstream. It is just camping, but camping with rules, and sometimes we happen to camp with other humans who can get their panties in a wad about stupid stuff. But it doesn't matter. We love our trailers, we are proud of the tradition of the trailers, and we love camping with other Airstreamers.

No offense meant to Harley owners, I was poking fun, Harley's are great bikes too.

Actually, I was not refering to HOG which is directly related to HD and their dealers. HD as a company has done a wonderful job branding and promoting their lifestyle and building brand loyalty through their owner groups. So has Honda! I was refering to BMWMOA. BMW MOA is member and advertising funded and has no direct association with BMW North America. However, BMW management does listen to them and values their concerns. Their rally, which recently ended in Vermont, had business meetings, informational seminars, and FUN ACTIVITIES. Nobody (even other brands of MC's) was excluded from participating! That is why sales of this brand has increased dramatically over the years. The more people are involved in a club at their level, the more they will participate, and the more they will be loyal to the brand. Chartering a club is simple, get 10 members and send them a check. If I remember it was $100. That's it! You do need to have a meeting at least once a year but it doesn't need to be anything formal. Rest assured they are not a perfect model and BMWMOA has their issues too! But the emphasis is motivated by a loyalty to the brand and not the protocol of the club.
