IBT Meeting Live Now

Currently the IBT is meeting and is available via live streaming which can be accessed from the WBCCI site.

No shattering news at this time. They are getting reports from the various committes.

So far I have heard:
1. The BB is doing a great job, keep it up!
2. The cerfew for children at Perry was not being enforced.
3. Rumors that teenages at Perry may have been smoking pot.
4. 30 amp power at Bozeman is going to be an issue.
5. 2009 international will be held at Madison WI.
6. Membership is down 5.1% this year.
7. MALs are leaving the club in greater numbes then the rest of the club.
8. Multi year memberships are being considered.

The meeting is now on a break untill 20 minutes after the hour.
Coffee and cookies are in the hallway!

The last 20 minutes had to do with retaining membership.

An interesting comment was that dealers are telling them that most new Airstream buyers are younger families that are not interested in the club.

It was defeated with only 39% of the delegates voting for the amendment.

It is now lunch break and they will return for the "offical" ibt meeting at 3:30. They are also going to do the group photo with all the chairs, Blue Berets are required.

Alot of talk about the club's liability insurance.

Sounds like the Communications Liason is either dead or is being revamped.

2010 International will be in Gillette, WY

Trailer Park operators who offer discounts to WBCCI members will now be required to pay an anual fee of $25 to cover advertising (a few lines in the club directory) costs. I expect to see a smaller list of RV Parks next year.

Well, if I had a report of this type at my company board meeting, heads would be rolling first thing in the morning! 8 lines reported and only one is acceptable and that would be line 3. Teenager will be teenagers!

They also approved a contract with Gilette Wyoming for the 2010 International.

Since they plan the International Rally so far in advance, why is it now that they feel they are going to have an issue with the electricity? I would have imagined this would have been taken care of last year. Having an "issue" with supplying attendees with power is not something that should come up only 12 months before the event. I'm sorry everyone, but sitting out here on the East Coast and not being in Perry it seems that all we hear on the forum is the bad stuff! Where is the good stuff that is happening down there?

Maybe the issue is the cost to attendees, rather than the how to do it.

Maybe, but if I remember correctly last week they told us, the membership, if you wanted 30AMP next year it will cost you an additional $325! Are they starting to feel a little guilty because we will have to pay so much and they (IBT) don't have to pay?

Ken
I heard that she is getting involved with leadership training and programs at the international. I am sure we will hear more about it later.

I don't think the club's leadership was too happy about the CL. If you remember from the winter IBT they basicly shot down the things she brough up as being just a few upset people. If they wanted to make it work, it would reguire two way communications where the club leaders would be required to answer questions and respond to new ideas.

I don't get it. The club leaders say that they are concerned about the lack of members, but waited to say anything about it utill now. They continue to staff and organize the same as they did when the club had 5 times as many members as it does today. When the question of membership cameup there were a few suggestions, but nothing that addresses the problem.

A welcome package from the club with every new trailer. I can just see a 35 year old couple open the package and the first thing they see is a picture of the IBT with Red coats, ties, Berets and old enough to be these peoples grand parents. What's the chances of them joining?

A comment from the floor about the fact that they removed the DVD setup that showed club caravans from the lobby. I wonder how many new members that pulled in?

The single thing that had the most discussion is the fact that caravans that are outside the US are required to pay for their own club insurance. Several thought that this was hurting caravans to Mexico because the cost was past onto the members of the caravan.

I did learn alot about the clubs liability insurance from this meeting. Basicly the insurance, which costs about $38,000 per year, protects the club, it's officers and other members from legal actions taken them.

Well one thing we have to remember is it took the club a long time to get where it is and will take a long time to make changes - I learned alot about the club during the whole FCU approval process - I do give them credit for approving our unit - I'm encouranged that things will change over time.

Most of the leadership are older retired folks, us youngins do not have the time to devote to the club as they do - so while we may not agree with the things that are going on at the top - I think anyone on a local level should be encouraged to start a new unit to their liking and have some fun with it.

Yes I was aware of the insurance policy, which is the primary reason I wanted to belong to the WBCCI. I get in trouble everytime I say this - I would not organize a forum rally for that reason - and - to start a new club (501(c)(4) ) would be pretty expensive - so for 56 bucks (in the FCU's case) that really cheap insurance for those of us involved in these rallies.

expect to read about a motion to eliminate the mal classification...

we just cause TOO much trouble!

data will be reported that supports this position.

the data tracking on members new, old, cancelled, renewed and so on is comical...

the home office uses one electronic/paper file.

ONE.

last fall i asked that my home address/id info NOT be listed in the directory.

this request was granted.

come annual renewal time, nothing was receieved.

as a matter of fact the bb stopped coming after my 'do not list' request.

turns out they'd just deleted me from the ONE master file.

they couldn't send me the renewal or bb because they do longer had my address!

so i'm a mal who quit, joined again and will need to quit EVERY YEAR

just to have a 'do not list' option in the directory...

dark ages folks...

cheers

If you don't want to be listed, just send your payment after December of each year....or whatever the cutoff is for listing....

. . .Sounds like the Communications Liason is either dead or is being revamped. . . .(quote) This indicates that the IBT does not like the messages for change, with suggestions offered, that this committee is making. This sounds like their method of operations is "shoot the messenger" and ignore the message. How can they take the low road of avoiding listening and considering suggestions at every opportunity? From their lofty perch, will they always cast off suggestions as being from a discontented few?? They have a survey (where did that end up?) and they have the article by Renee with listed communications ideas that was published in a recent past BB. That should be enough to warrant a "committee" to prioritize and begin working on some needed changes. ~G
