Of course anyone joining a fun, exciting, active unit is more likely to stay in WBCCI. But of all the units in the organization, how many fit the bill?
I'd say just a handfill, hope I'm wrong. On the east coast it's NEU and WDCU that are the mavericks dragging the club into the 21st century.

Looking for a WBCCI Unit filled with fun loving folks to camp and travel with in the New England area? Well, you've just found it:
First Mates....... hell, I sold my boat and bought an Airstream. It's a travel trailer! What garbage!
No, its just the IBT's inner pirate coming out. But seriously, First Mate for every officer's spouse or significant other is more egalitarian and equal across the board than differences of First Lady, which always sounded presumptious to me, First Gentleman, which has a Chippendales ring to it, and First Mates for everyone else. One Region VP made a good point that using First Mate across the board is more welcoming to everyone, and I think he had a subtle but good point there. I like the fact that it eliminates distinctions between all types of couples. I'm all for fewer, not more, distinctions between members in the WBCCI. This is a small but positive step.
AARRGGGGHH,

Damn! Recorder shut off mid-way (low batteries). Wanted to transcribe IPP Shafer's last comments about a faction outside of the control of the IBT and VAC that is causing division. Come on folks -- that faction is clearly labeled -- its the I.B.T.!
I'm continually amazed at how their garbage doesn't stink yet they are solely responsible for every bit of controversy this club has had over the last two years.

No, Leo. You are wrong. It is the "vocal minority" I am sure.

AARRGGGGHH,
OK, I agree completely with the First Lady (was OK in 1953) and the First Gentleman thing, but First Mate? Well then, we can trade in our Red Jackets for Puffy Shirts and Eye patches!

I said to one of them just "CLICK" on that link,
they said "what the heck's a click"
I dare not say mouse, they may run out of the room.

When we get to the point where we label only the person elected to office and not the entire family (ie first granddaughter, 2nd son, first dog, 3rd parakeet) we will be making a little progress. Until then----
Uhhhhh, Bob .... that's 3rd paramate. The Club's new preferred salutation when introduced to a signigificant other, spousal or otherwise, is "Aye Aye, Matey!!"

WOW, the youth were out past curfew, that's one of the reasons I took my kids to these rallies! They could be with friends in a controlled environment that was safe and be on their own for some time after dark. They need time away from adults, you try to spend 3 or 4 weeks in 30 ft with 2 teens and not let them have some freedom.
On the dope smoking, come back to 30 feet and I will know right now if that was going on in my house. Hey grand ma and grand pa wake up and smell the dope! (If that is really what was going on) I have spent 9 years with the youth of the WBCCI and unless this is very different group than the last 9 years, I have a hard time believing that was going on.
The WBCCI youth program is one of the best I have ever seen.
