Well one thing we have to remember is it took the club a long time to get where it is and will take a long time to make changes - I learned alot about the club during the whole FCU approval process - I do give them credit for approving our unit - I'm encouranged that things will change over time.
Most of the leadership are older retired folks, us youngins do not have the time to devote to the club as they do - so while we may not agree with the things that are going on at the top - I think anyone on a local level should be encouraged to start a new unit to their liking and have some fun with it.
Yes I was aware of the insurance policy, which is the primary reason I wanted to belong to the WBCCI. I get in trouble everytime I say this - I would not organize a forum rally for that reason - and - to start a new club (501(c)(4) ) would be pretty expensive - so for 56 bucks (in the FCU's case) that really cheap insurance for those of us involved in these rallies.
Anyone else lose their connection to the IBT meeting? Mine got sporatic, then just quit. I cannot reconnect.

. . .Sounds like the Communications Liason is either dead or is being revamped. . . .(quote) This indicates that the IBT does not like the messages for change, with suggestions offered, that this committee is making. This sounds like their method of operations is "shoot the messenger" and ignore the message. How can they take the low road of avoiding listening and considering suggestions at every opportunity? From their lofty perch, will they always cast off suggestions as being from a discontented few?? They have a survey (where did that end up?) and they have the article by Renee with listed communications ideas that was published in a recent past BB. That should be enough to warrant a "committee" to prioritize and begin working on some needed changes. ~G

Discussions are to have a Region person contact every new member that signs up as a MAL to see if they really wouldn't rather join a unit instead of becoming a MAL directly. The drop-out rate (I believe) was mentioned to be 18% for MALs. They believe new timers are far better off in a local unit and more likely to renew.
Damn! Recorder shut off mid-way (low batteries). Wanted to transcribe IPP Shafer's last comments about a faction outside of the control of the IBT and VAC that is causing division. Come on folks -- that faction is clearly labeled -- its the I.B.T.!
I'm continually amazed at how their garbage doesn't stink yet they are solely responsible for every bit of controversy this club has had over the last two years.

Of course anyone joining a fun, exciting, active unit is more likely to stay in WBCCI. But of all the units in the organization, how many fit the bill?

After much heated debate the term First Lady has been dropped. It did not fit the spouse of a female officer well.
The original motion was to keep First Lady,
Male spouses would be tittled First Gentlemen
And unmarried partners would be First Mates.
This was amended so that all sposes and partners are now First Mates.

First Mates....... hell, I sold my boat and bought an Airstream. It's a travel trailer! What garbage!
