I quite agree that the international rally is too expensive, and that the cost is one of the factors in the decreasing attendance.

The lack of 3 amp service certainly did not keep me from going. More vendors might help, but we winter awful close to the Florida winter rally and I got most of what I would buy there. I have camped in Il in July and I would have gotten the 30 amp service and hopefully a shade tree. I

Other than socalizing with people we have met on caravans I see no real utility to me going. I carried the unit flag at Boozeman and thats enough. I went to the delegates meeting an alternate and really did not see any usefulness to that either. We are not enough into entertainment to make that a big feature. Couple of good presentations on caravans, but I do not really need that any more.

Maybe we ought not to try to evaluate the success of WBCCI by the attendence at the national rally. The unit functions are important to me. The Caravans are very important to me right now. The economy is still down. Maybe if you are going to cut something out the IRally is an okay thing to skip. If I went to the Rally, I would probably enjoy it. And I would enjoy it more if the facallities are nice. But for a week and $500 and a couple of thousand miles pulling there are certainly other things to do also.

12 units in VAC parade this year. I don't know if anyone has posted photos. I think about 40-50 units parked in vintage, but a little hard to tell as they put a bunch of non-vintage units in this wing of the campground after the vintage parade, as portions of it are fairly well drained. Much of the fairgrounds has standing water after (frequent) thunderstorms.

Not complaining--VAC has the nicest spot in the park.

Looking forward? Look to Sedalia MO to host the 2012 International Convention-Rally. Rumor only but Oklahoma may be our 2013 venue. Hattiesburg MS is being talked-about as a 2012 Winter IBT location.

There is also an interesting link in that RP's newsletter to comments written by Larry Huttle on the motorhome issue, i.e.,
"Thor Motor Coach officials have lost interest in pursuing a workable arrangement with the WBCCI as a result of their experience in 2007 with a low WBCCI approval by the general membership of its involvement."

We rolled in on Monday and it was really wet. WE got the nicest (highest) spot in the park. We were beyond the VAC, in the next loop, but had our own private shoreline on the lake. It was a little over a mile to the main building.

Nice rally site, except for the torrential rain.

I missed the first half hour of the IBT meeting this morning. What have I missed? Sounds like budget... Will this be a short meeting today?

I believe that it was the entertainer at the last mid winter meeting.

I liked it then too.

15 minute power out, we missed that, but will be available in the archives. Maybe I will go on with my chores and wait for the release.

Please post notes...I am off for now.

I am also a little confused about early workers, while it was said at the midwinter that early workers would be limited to one week at Duquoin the International President mentioned on the simulcast that there were early workers that arrived June 9th, I think, like carpenters (and others) and today during the meeting they were saying how expensive wood is in the budget talks. What do they build? And how are the workers divided up as to arrival?

There were only 12 units in the VAC parade because the VAC Open House and Concours were scheduled less than two hours later. To complicate the matter further, it rained buckets the night before making getting in and out of the site a challenge.

There were at least 25 vintage units parked in the Purple Vintage area Sunday with that number to double by Wednesday. I saw at least another 20 vintage Airstreams parked in the Red, Green and Yellow sections.

Thanks Mike, that seems like a pretty tight schdule. In Madison the parade was nearly a mile long.

Part of the problem with this rally was some stuff happened before the rally officially began. The Vintage parade happened before a lot of Airstream Caravans and other Airstreamer's arrived. The Rally did not start till Tuesday evening at the Flag Ceremony.

Similar situation in Salem in 2006. The parade was on Monday and the rally started the following Wednesday, open house was not until Friday. But the Vintage group gathered together off site and paraded into the fairgrounds. The parade had about 65 trailers and the rally had about 900 attendees.

...usually the concourse judging is during the Open House, so I'm sure people didn't want to have additional mud caked on their trailers for that either....I know I wouldn't!

Knowing many of the VAC'rs in attendance, I'm sure they made the best out of a uncontrollable, less than ideal situation and had a great time regardless ~ sorry we missed it this year!
