This may be true, but at least in my Units, most of the club officers are long-time caravaners, and would not bother to organize a caravan that couldn't be numbered.

Thanks for clarifying this. My recollection was that the WBCCI Caravan Handbook required a minimum two night stay at each stop, so reducing the required number of days without reducing the required number of stops or number of days at each stop would have no real effect.
We have had a lot of fun on unit caravans. Unit members--and particularly potential unit caravan leaders--have to decide for themselves whether their goal is to have fun and see the sights in congenial company, or to get a number after their name in the directory. To each his own.

I personally don't care about a caravan number after my name. But I also don't want to organize a caravan that suits my wants and needs until I've at least been on a caravan organized by someone more experienced. So if they want a number after their name…

It is now 374 with at least one more here for just a day or two. Registration officially ended at noon today.

Scratching the itch of curiosity, how many of those were volunteers?

Any one know how many of those 374 were off site?
I wouldn't be surprised if more than half were early workers

Just a thought. It would be interesting to see the attendance at the last 5-10 Nationals compared to the location. I remember the one in Wisconsin had over 900. Maybe a central location that is the same each year would be better. If it were to be held at the same place, maybe the rates would be less and there would be less set-up as this could be scheduled years in advance. Possible sites could be St Louis, Kansas City, Memphis or somewhere in between.

Still thinking; The Kansas City Speedway comes to mind as it is already set-up for camping on the infield.

I believe there were about 225 on site just prior to the arrival of caravans and expect most of them had one or more jobs as volunteers. I was on handicap parking until June 28 and worked every second day, plus my International Membership tasks, helping a bit at the Club store and carrying the Canadian flag at several activities.

Its not about numbers John, its about making it easy and fun for the people who go! That has always been the driving force behind my caravans!

Well, Ed, since you mention it, I'm not sure the relaxation of requirements for numbered unit caravans will make any difference to us. A number of requirements in the WBCCI Caravan Handbook (which I can't seem to lay my hands on right now) are burdensome for free-wheeling caravans like hours, and the benefit isn't worth the cost.
For those of you who have never been on one of Ed's caravans, they're great! I would tell you some stories, but I can't, because caravanners are solemnly sworn to secrecy at the start of each caravan. Our motto is, "What happens on the caravan, stays on the caravan!"

Sounds like things were a little bit calmer this year. Were there any problems? Also, what were the high points, the good. Jim

Motion #2 was a change to the membership fees for those joining late in the year, ie with less then 6 months until next years dues are due. The reason was stated that people delayed joining the club as to not have to pay full dues only to pay full dues again a few months later.

what is the rest of the meeting schedule? Seems there should be at least one more. If anything is streaming today(7/1) we are not getting it.

The only meeting left is the July 5th IBT meeting with the new board. And you right it's not listed on the website, I will get that updated.

Thanks!
Damon,
Thanks so much for keeping on top of all this stuff. The ECC has made real, siginificant improvements in member communications.
While I'm thinking of it--is the WBCCI Caravan Handbook available in electronic form? I didn't see it anywhere on the WBCCI.org web site.
