What?

I just bought my airstream 1999 classis escella.
I am reading the forum and learning a lot but I just don't get what is going on with the anger and people dropping out of WACCI?
I am still trying to figure out what ther groups are, units , clubs?

We had a motorhome and down sized but we want to belong to a group and have company to travel with to rallies as well as going on our own.

Why are so many unhappy?
Why not fight to change things?

Can someone tell me in simple languguage what the issues are?
thanks

Hi and what a loaded question! Look at the WBCCI forum here and you will have hours and hours of reading.

The WBCCI has units at a local level many units are grouped into a geographical region and at the top are the International officers of the club. Each branch has its own officers such as president, vice president, so on and so on.

The major motion before the club to consider this year is making the club open to other brands of motorhomes that are not Airstreams. Last year it was changing the name of the club. That's the politics and highly visible end of the spectrum. Voting procedures are also something many would like to address.

Many members wanting change often have reasons that stem from their local level units and their experience. There is a lot of variance there but there is also a thread of commonality to much of it.

Unfortunatly bina, oftentimes the most vocal are the unhappy (for whatever reason). I would suggest looking into the Unit closest to you & see if they are folks that you would be interested in hanging out with...we have found some of our very best friends through the WBCCI and encourage everybody to check it out first hand! In FL there are many groups to choose from...if the first one doesn't meet your needs keep on looking!

WBCCI.org

Many of us have chosen to hang in there and work from within! And we are seeing changes ~

bina, Your questions have no quick answer as they are complicated and really revolve are around the International. But in a nutshell they are.

Last year there was a motion to change the Club name after 50 years.

This year the International wants to allow in Motorhomes NOT made by Airstream if they have an "Airstream Edition" sticker on them.

You'll need to do your own research to see why people feel the way they do on this and make your own decision.

At the low end is the Unit. Thats the group of folks you'd be camping with.

All Units are different based on the people in them. Go visit all the Units in your area and I'm sure you'll find one where you all fit together. Join up and go camping and have fun. The Unit is really the most important part of the Club.

Personally I was/am against both of the issues above but I still think the WBCCI is a great club and a lot of fun.

P.S. Go on Forum Rallies too. I use any excuse I can find or make up to go camping.

Bina, I'm not angry about the WBCCI, and I would encourage you to look into it and see if it's for you. However I am lucky enough to have a lot of active forum members in our neck of the woods, and we have rallys that just put the WBCCI to shame, and we do it without charging $70 a year to participate. The folks in my WBCCI unit were all very nice, and I wouldn't want you to miss trying out your local unit, just because some far away people decided their local units weren't for them!
