Well things have been moving kind of fast here. After returning from our 33-day trip to Michigan and back we attended two unit rallies. At the first, Vic Smith our outgoing Unit President, asked me to be a candidate for 2nd VP as the person that was nominated had to withdraw, and I showed an interest by speaking up and offering suggestions (that will teach me

). At the membership meeting following that rally, I was elected, and at the unit rally this past few days, I was installed as the new 2nd VP of the Florida Unit.
The installation was pretty entertaining. About an hour before the ceremony, one of my fellow campers asked me if I was going to get dressed for the event. Sitting there in blue jeans, hiking boots, and a t-shirt I said this was it. Well from one trailer came a white dress shirt (too large), another a red tie (people carry these things in their trailers when they’re camping

), and another a WBCCI beret (too small). I looked like a refugee from the WBCCI thrift shop standing up there in my too small hat, too large shirt and tie, blue jeans, and hiking boots, accepting the job

.
Unencumbered by “experience” (I’ve only been doing this for a year now) I’m charging off to do good for my unit and the club as a whole

. I’m in a very good unit with many forward thinking people, and I have read through many of the threads here as to what everyone thinks the problems are with the club today.
Let me hear your thoughts and advice. Send me a reply or come and see me at the Can Opener, FL State Rally, or Bozeman. I’ll be the one without a tux, but I may have to buy a hat

.
