Why does everyone keep calling it a camping club? Last time I checked it was the Wally Byam Caravan Club. I am just curious about why everyone is so confused about that.

There is a flag protocal.

It has nothing to do with WBCCI rules. It has to do with military procedures of flying flags. The WBCCI has softened the rules so that you are now free to fly as many as you want.

There was a time not so long ago when people behaved according to a set of rules. The club was formed then and some of those were adopted to the club. Now that our society finds rules of behavior a violation of their rights, many have an issue with rules. Some just like to stir it up and piss folks off. They feel it is their right.

I still feel that those that are not in the club should refrain from commenting on the activities of the club.

62Overlander,

Thanks for your input. Yours has been the most informative yet, to me. I do know the flag protocal, and the flag that I want to fly that I had a question about, is a United States Military type flag, and I could not find any mention of such in the rules and amendments.

My orginal question was an honest one, because I really did not know being new to the club. I'm so new that I have not received my numbers as yet, and because of my inexperience I honestly did not want to offend anyone. I know that club officers, unit officers, and past officers fly those flags on the right, and did not want to be in error in the club's eyes by flying my military flag in that position.

Thanks to all that have responded to my question.

I guess because I am not a member, and they do a lot more than Caravanning sometimes stopping at a camp site over night.

OK, What branch of the military is the WBCCI?

That is stretch, my rights are not violated by WBCCI flag flying rules as I am not a member of the club. I stated before it is out of my comfort zone. You have the right to be pissed off by other people if you chose to do so.

I guess you missed the comment about our national flag.

Doesn't that twist yo up when someone makes a comment you don't like and you wish you could stifle them with a rule and can't.

Maybe we should take it up with the Rules and Bylaws Committee?

This is the link to the WBCCI site, I am sure all posts and responses would be more in line with the rules and policies of the WBCCI.

Jim,

Went to the WBCCI site. They don't have any rules saying you can't comment about the Airforums unless you are a member of the Airforums.

In fact, I believe some of the WBCCI leadership has been very vocal about the Airforums.

The only flag that counts in this good old USA is the stars and stripes of old glory.Put her High in the middle and show her with pride.

Steve H,

I wouldn't worry a whit about offending anyone with your flags, it's just not going to happen. Fly the nations flag in it's appropriate place and let your creativity take it from there.

Flags

Is it time to put up the WHITE flag and surrender this thread?
Maybe to the RULES.

62,

Uh. . . not sure that's a true statement. Referring to the Blue Book section on Flags (page 54) over on the WBCCI site, I see that the rule is still in place,

"2.Only official national flags of North American nations with units and members residing in those nations, plus state and provincial flags; and the official flags of the WBCCI and approved unit and Intra Club flags and pennants shall be flown or displayed at official events and functions of the WBCCI."

(Bold face mine)

It certainly appears that this rule is no longer enforced, although I supposed it could still be used as the basis for a grievance if somebody wanted to throw you out of the club.

Cheers,
Nuvi

Well, those pictures were taken at the WDCU installation. I would say that was an official WBCCI event. I guess I was in clear violation and should be brought up on charges. Please by all means, my number is #7183.

You had better hurry, you only have 30 days after the event to file a grievance.

So I can conclude you feel it is your right to piss off yourself?

Steve,

You had an honest question and I don't want to scare you off. If you haven't read what the Blue Book has to say about flags, you can find it here:

http://www.wbcci.org/documents/ACF323.DOC

Once upon a time if you were flying an "unauthorized flag" it was likely some self-appointed "WBCCI cop" would bring it to your attention. Those days are largely gone as this thread indicates. If you fly the U S flag in the position of honor I doubt that you will hear a word from any one.

Welcome to the WBCCI - hope you get your membership packet soon! - and hope you enjoy the club!

See you down the road,
Nuvi

If you resemble the aforementioned remark this New York City cowboy suggests you fly the New York City flag. You can fly it anyway you want and nobody will care anyway. Just don't mess with my hat. I support the right to arm bears.

It is all good, you posted some great pictures of flags flying in the wind, nice photography. Airstreams look best when dressed with flags.

I have a question??? WHY DO THEY HAVE RULES ABOUT THIS???????
Do they have rules about how to shi* and how much tp I can use... Come on>> old timers sitting around with nothing to do... When I make it to a rally I might just fly a few flags in their direction..... Man I'm gonna get myself in trouble I'm shutting up now
