Experience with Courtesy Parking?

We recently bought an AS and joined WBCCI. I see that a few members offer Courtesy Parking. I'm curious about people's experience offering this - both good and bad. Also, are there rules?

On the flip side, how about people's experience parking at someone's home?

We actually have room to do this but I am a bit concerned about putting our name out there without know the pluses and minuses.

We have had guests one time and have stayed at two different places offering the parking. All have been positive experiences and have met some very friendly airstreamers.

Courtesy parking is fantastic - both for the traveller as well as the host. Over the years we have used them often and really enjoyed meeting Club members and learning more information about their town/city.

Perhaps our most interesting CP was not finding a campground in the area, called a CP couple who said "I am sorry, but we are just leaving for a Unit rally; however, here is how you find our home, here is where you park, here is where you get water, here is where you get electricity, here is where you get cable TV, you can put wash water on the ground, and OH yea, we hope you will still be there when we get home in 3 days". That was so much more than what CP is meant to be - simply as spot to park overnight. They were so nice, what could we do but do as they said and waited for them to return. We had a wonderful visit and stayed two more nights so we did not just say 'thanks and goodbye'.

As we say in the Club - "Courtesy Parking is one of our best kept secrets". Some members don't use CP as they feel it is an imposition on the hosts, but the hosts WANT you to come. For some, they no longer own an Airstream and this is but one way for them to maintain some contact with the Club.

So, give it a try (both as a traveller and a host) and I am sure you will love it.

We have had many Airstreamers visit us for a day, a week or more..In fact we have a friends 'stream that has been with us from last Oct. We have been notified days ahead and even 1/2 hour ahead. Always great folks.

We have also used Courtesy Parking many times. It started when we could not find a campground. We have always had great hosts and it is nice to meet other Airstreamer's along the way. We always have a great time.

Also, don't forget to look for rallies in your area. There are a great many and they are always fun. Wonderful people in all areas.

I have never used courtesy parking , but maybe I will one day- like on our September trip to the mothership and touring around Ohio and Indiana...
I should extend the offer for others to park here. There isn't much room, and I live on a busy street, but I have water, sewer, 50 amp electric, DirecTV, and wireless internet.
So, if anyone is ever in Greenwood, MS give me a shout...

Courtesy Parking

We offer courtesy parking and have had a blast meeting new folks. All of our visitors have been kind and interesting folks. Most have kept in touch and we value new friends. We have also done courtesy parking and it has been great! Airstreamers are usually a wonderfully friendly crowd!!

We Have It

We offer parking and more than welcome those who choose to use it. When we moved 3 years ago to this location it was one of the reasons we purchased the place, room for our Airstream friends!

Use CP it is a great benefit for Airstream owners

Courtesy parking? We have mini rallies at my house! I have had up to 5 RV's hooked up at once, good thing I have 40 acres and gray water goes on the ground.

I am no longer a WBCCI member (variety of reasons) however the CP was always one of my favorite perks. Never had a bad experience with it. Only used once myself when the weather shut me down and we needed somewhere close by to ride it out.

We've had several people use our CP but limit coaches to 25' or less. We have water, electricity, wi-fi, and sewer but ask people not to use the sewer if they are on antibiotics as we have a septic system. We are dog friendly and all users have been wonderful guests.

We too offer courtesy parking and have had Airstreamers drop in…it's always been a very positive experience. We too have had mini-rallies with friends…especially after late night get togethers (Rally planning parties, etc.).

I have also used CP…several years ago, I was traveling cross country by myself to a rally and much preferred staying with a friendly Airstreamer than alone in a campground. I met the nicest people on that trip and have since met up with them several times.

Courtesy Parking isn't just for WBCCI members…some of my best experiences have been with Forum-Folks! You know who you are ~

We spent a bunch days this past summer visiting with other Airstreamers. The best part is when you can return the favor and they stop by your house...

How does one find courtesy parking?

This sounds like fun. Is there a list of people who offer courtesy parking?

The WBCCI has a list of members who offer this service. Check their website. For club members only, though. One of the benefits of membership. Jim

Courtesy Parking, is great feature of the WBCCI, we do wish more people used it.

http://wbcci.org/club-information/co...sy-parking-map

This online map shows you what zip code the member is located it, and their WBCCI number, to contact them all you need to do is look up the number in your WBCCI directory.

If you are a WBCCI member and you want to offer CP, contact WBCCI HQ and they will be happy to add you to the list.

You can also find folks offering CP here on the Forums as follows:

Go to the "Community" drop down menu in the blue bar above > Select "Members List"
Select "Search Members" in blue bar on the right them "Advanced Search"
Select the "State" you are interested in finding someone in, scroll down &
Select "Yes" for the Courtesy Parking option scroll down &
Click "Search Now"

If you want to narrow down yor search, put in both a City & State.

Folks offering Courtesy Parking will come up in a new window. Then you just have to contact them and see if they are open for visitor when you plan on passing through.

Shari

That is more than 6 steps to get to courtesy parking. Even more if you mess up. Couldn't a tab for the Courtesy Parking be added on the front page for all of us computer handicapped.

Really? When I registered with Air Forums the question was asked if I was able to offer courtesy parking. I don't remember anything about a requirement having to deny folks who were not members. I would imagine that most of those found in the WBCCI directory are also listed here on the forum. So, suppose I were to call someone on the list to ask for help. Would they have to ask me for the secret handshake before they would help out? I guess it is this kind of silliness that keeps people from joining up.

If you are a member you will have access to the easy to read directory. I would hope that that is where it ends. If someone denied CP to me because I was not a member I would be happy not to stay at this person's home.

My experience has been unbelievable! Just this week I was at a gas station. A very elderly gentleman pulled up to me and asked if we needed a place to stay!
We accepted his very generous offer and well we are still visiting with him 4 days later! We have visited his farm and been shown everything about his town!
He has not been a WBCCI member on nearly 25 years.

There are truly gracious people left.
We have made a wonderful friend and have enjoyed incredible hospitality.

As far as offering a place to others, when at home we host Airstreamers many times a season and often in the winter
