Door County Bicycle Rally June 20-26
I see WBCCI has a scheduled bike rally immediately preceding the International Rally in Wisconsin.
Brad and I are going to be working in Door County this summer so if you are planning to attend, perhaps we will have a chance to meet and greet you. Bailey's Harbor is not far from Rowles Bay where we will be staying.
Looks like some serious riding scheduled 35-50 miles and at 13-15 average mph. Biking and trails to ride are stellar up there though. We shall bring our bikes but probably ride shorter distances at a leisurely 8-10 mph. Our hotshot days are over but we did do a century long long ago in the olden days.
So who is going? Somebody?

We're not into biking at that level but I have a couple things to add. First, Joe & Peggy will do an outstanding job of organizing the event. We met them in route to the balloon fiesta a couple years ago. They and the entire Denver WBCCI group were so welcoming. We got to be good friends with Joe & Peggy.
Secondlly, for the casual biker, Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek (Door County) is a great place to bike.

Yes, I'm afraid that'd be a tad bit tough on my legs -- and on my hinnie, too. It'd probably help to have a good street bike. And the nice, rich air at lower altitude would make it easier. (I use a mountain bike and ride at 8,400 feet.)

Hooked we love Peninsula's trails! Nice to hear about the hosts I am going to try to get over to meet them when we can. They may in fact be heading over to Wagon Trail for the brunch or bakery one day???
63, I think that 35-50 miles is at one shot. The BB said they were going to ride seriously. Brad and I ride anywhere from just around the campground to maybe 16 miles and stop for lunch and taking pictures. We don't crank out much mileage anymore we just weave around for fun and stop to smell the wildflowers. I walk up the hills and zoom down the other side. No self respecting serious enthusiast would be caught dead doing that I think.

Cool!!!!! We will come see you or visa versa. Our Airstream will be behind the resort on the hill and not the campground. We stayed at the campground last year and it is so very nice. We were hoping that was where they were going to put us but the campground and the resort are under separate ownership. I imagine we will have to work the holiday but we can surely get out between or after hours. I'll stay in touch, and perhaps we can make a plan as time draws nearer. A mini rally perhaps? Or at least pizza or taco nite in town.
Which campground are you going to stay in at Peninsula, do you know yet? That is one of our favorite state parks. Brad always wants to get into Weborg but that's almost always filled. I think we have camped at all of the 5 areas, Nicolet Bay, North and South,Tennison, Welker's and Weborg.
Actually my current avatar was taken at Wagon Trail campground.

Door County is beautiful. We stayed at Wagon Trail resort on our first trip by car in the summer of '94. That one was with the kids. The countryside and small towns were very enjoyable. You have brought back so many memories talking about Penensula S.P., Bailey's Harbor, Rowles Bay, etc.
My wife and me flew back a few years later to experience it in the winter...both nice, but very different.
Enjoy your time!
Dave

Dave did you do the winter festival in Sister Bay in February by any chance? We did that one year. Finding hearty Wisconsin cheese soups and roaring fireplaces and even chili at the village hall and the dressed up dog parade were our fond memories. A favorite dinner had taper candles on the tables and a harp player in the dining room at White Gull Inn.

No, we missed the festival, but still enjoyed good food, cherry pie, etc.

Roger come and see us! It's not so far, you could hook up with a couple of other rallies along the way too. Bradley will bake you a cinnabun and I will serve it up right to ya.
Dave, Brad loves the door county cherry cobbler!!!!!! Me there's a place that has HUGE chocolate turtles, mmmmmmmmmm. We better hook up with some bikers we will need the exercise, LOL!!!

I have no Idea Where DOOR COUNTY IS! Probably to far for this ole man. I'm afraid we will have to stay in State this yr after the beating we have taken. I just may have to go back to work,to stay afloat.
Time will tell.
