Does this number mean anything to anyone?
On the front and rear of my recently bought, 1970's Airstream there is a faint number... (19438)... I think it might be a club number of some kind.... can this number give me a history of the Airstream?

Are they large numbers over the windows on the curved pieces? If so, then yeah, they're WBCCI membership numbers. Do a search, there's a ton of info on them, from how to remove them, to looking up the original members names, to getting them assigned to you, to getting new ones assigned to replace them! Good luck!

That number is no longer assigned in the WBCCI handbook for 2005. If you want to join the club, ask for that number and they'll give it to you. Then you don't have to work so hard to take the old number off!

The number has to be retired or not renewed for two full membership years before it can be re-assigned.
You will not be able to get the history from the WBCCI office but they do provide the last registered name to that number and the year it was last used. From there you must do your own research - but that is half the fun.

I'm sure if they're all faded away like he says, it's probably a safe bet that it's been well over 2 years since the PO renewed their membership.

The old numbers on top of my Airstream
The Airstream was in the thrift yard of my neighbor for 10 years.... and it was used for storage... she sold it to me over a month ago... I am sure it has not been used for at least 10 years, or more.... it is in good shape inside as well as outside... I just wanted to know where to get some history on the number, which is 19438.... maybe even rejoint the Airstream group when I start travling...

Ya think
In this case yep your right but don't rule out that someone could have bought a new rig somewhere and transfered the numbers to it.
And just because it was not listed in this 05 book does not mean that it is available zzzzalll I was saying.....just passing on info that we had found out from head office - as it does not say anywhere and our own Unit certainly new nothing of re-assigning numbers.

Yes, I am interested....
Yes, I am interested.... I am new to Airstream living...only being in my trailer for a month now... I am getting to like it....
What ever information you have on 19438, I would like to have.... it won't be too long when I take the trailer on the road.... maybe visit Big Bend National Park or some places in Arizona, or New Mexico, for some extended vacations...
Thanks in advance for the information....

Another # Question....
Streamer23 -
I also have a 'new to me' unit with the #13003. Is that number listed in your guide as a current number? Could you tell who has/ had it? Just curious as I would like to reuse the number so I don't have the "ghost" number in perpetuity....
Thanks for your time and attention to this inquiry!

Axel.
As per the 2004 WBCCI membership book, 13003 is registered to Andrew Houzenga. He lives in Illinois.
It is common to trade a unit in with a members numbers still on the coach, and still be a member.
The safest way is to call the club at 937-5965211, and ask if the number is available. They are the only source that can tell you for sure.
