ok wally savers....

has anyone sorted out the moho ownership data...

not counting classics.

i understand there are about 800 mohos in the club...

this does represent 15-1600 members correct? doesn't EACH family member count?

i know the IBT is thick with mohos,

but what about at the unit level?

in other words how many local unit officers are in mohos?

this could have a huge impact on the vote...

IF the current pres. or pres elect for a unit is in a moho,

there will be intense and regular pressure on local members to vote yes.

i suspect many/most units vote as their officers do...

thoughts?

Well 2Air, since this is my unit President that sent me that email, and he is in a moho, the way I see it, I wouldn't have had a choice. And I may not even now. He is the one that gets to go vote for all of us. So I would say depending on how many times this scenario repeats itself, we could be in trouble.

That is one of the numbers I have seen, also heard that mohos are only 5% of the membership which would make 350

No, each number counts as a member usually only one number per family

If there is no other position presented, you are probably right

I am preparing a ballot to send out to all members in our unit and a letter in opposition. We will see if it does any good.

Have you considered joining WDCU? Perhaps it's not too "late" if you are willing to be a squeaky wheel.

Hi Mike & Sheri, We are Ray & RoseMary and we live in Gilbert. We purchased our new 25 ft Safari in March. We recently joined the forum and find it very informative. We are also in search of a Unit and have been invited to the Phoenix luncheon on the 27th of Oct. We are going to "check" it out. It looks like this unit is only active from November to April. Ray and I live here full time and "camp" year round. We have been looking at the FCU Rallys and they seem to be very active. We hope to drop in at their New Years Rally to meet the members.

Happy traveling, Rose Mary & Ray

The 2008 WBCCI Membership Directory arrived today.
While pulling the 2006 off the shelf and replacing it with the 2008, I noticed the 2008 directory was a bit thinner.

survive?

i understand Airstream is selling more new trailers than they ever have over the past few years. once these new owner are out there for a few years on their own they will more than likely get bored of hanging by themselves, especially knowing there is a club out there just begging for them to join.

hopefully they will attend one wbcci local rally and decide the weekend wasn't so painful. then they will realize the annual membership fee of $70+/- or so isn't the end of the world - less than a tank of fuel these days.

then they may actually be willing to join then maybe a couple of years later step up to the plate and take an officer position. then they may decide to be friendly enough and recruit a new airstream owner that may show up to a rally out of the blue and the club will perpetuate itself.

call me an optomist but i can only hope that my teenagers will wind up owning an airstream and become second generationers. heck - i know third generation airstreamers. the club and family works for us morrisons.

i hope i'm an old and gray wbcci'er and talking about the good ole days when they tried to change the name of the club and let sob's in.

airstreams are the best. long live the wbcci!

I noticed that the 2008 directory was about 100 pages thinner than the 2007 directory. A quick perusal of the two directories revealed that WBCCI removed the section on RV Parks by state from the 2008 directory which was over 100 pages.

In looking at the member section, it looks like membership has gone up as the member listing pages by WBCCI number has more pages in it than the 2007 directory had.

Count the number of pages devoted to WBCCI discount parks. Last year, they started charging parks for this service. Two problems:

1. In our travels, we tried to get the discount for several parks that were listed in the directory, and were denied. They claimed they'd never heard of the WBCCI.

2. Outside of our units (main and associate), we've never seen another WBCCI member at our park. We decided to save the money -- but still to advertise in our unit's newsletter and to welcome with a discount any and all WBCCI members.

My thinking is that, after all my complaining, maybe they're trying to thin the ranks of ghost discounts at campgrounds by making folks pay for it. The idea is to stay out of the directory for a couple of years, waiting until the list of parks gets a bunch smaller, and then pay them again to be in it. AND to be able to use the durned directory for a purpose on our trips!

Hi Dave,

You kind of described me there. A little over a year ago, I didn't own an Airstream. Now I'm the 2nd VP of the largest unit in FL. I stepped up to the job because being newly retired, I know what working folks have to go through to make a weekend or longer rally, and what the younger families want out of such events. The WBCCI needs to make some changes to the format to get these folks to join and participate.

Those of us that are retired and have the time, need spend the time to make the necessary changes and staff the rallies so that weekend participation is welcomed. One who can only come for a weekend needs to feel like they are contributing, and a part of the group. I hope to work to make joining the WBCCI something everyone will want to do because of the fun and camaraderie you experience being an Airstream owner and WBCCI member.

Randy

I enjoy our membership and yes, I will renew it. It has been established many times on this sight that there seems to be a problem with some of the higher ups, And I agree. It will all run its course and meanwhile I will continue to have alot of fun as a member. Run for a leadership possission or let it go.

That's great Tom. We would love to have you and we have members from all over the SE US. There is a Central FL unit, but they are slowly going inactive due to lack of interest, and active members. Here's the link to our unit's website: The Florida Unit Welcomes You

When are you moving to Florida?
