Boycott International

The officers of WBCCI don't seem to be listening to the members. Perhaps we can get their attention if more members do what robandzoe did (http://www.airforums.com/forum...n-24626-7.html, post 89) and cancel their reservation for International and let the office know that it is because of the motorhome and the Capetown to Cario caravan decisions by the Executive Committee and the IBT. Maybe we can get their attention.

I certainly understand why Rob made his decision, we spoke for quite a while last night about this, however I believe that canceling ones International reservation this year, because of the motorhome motion, is a bit hasty. I would suggest that members who are against this motion attend the delegates meeting when the discussion and vote is held and if the meeting is open to public comment you get up and tell them what you think and what passing this motion means to you and what the consequences to your WBCCI membership will be.

However, cancelling or not attending any Region or International sponsored rally, special event or caravan is a different subject and that action may have an immediate impact.

In addition, if there is a possibility to speak publicly before the vote for International officers, you do the same thing. We never planned on attending this years International for two specific reasons; 1) not enough vacation time and 2) no current plans to go to Georgia in June and July.

We are planning on attending the 2008 International in Bozeman, but those plans may change if the motorhome motion passes.

Just my personal opinion.

Cheryl,

There are several posts here in the WBCCI forum (http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286/), on the WBCCI forum at the WBCCI website (WBCCI Forum -) and on SaveWally.org.

Also the company line has been in the past and current Blue Beret.

In a "Roberts Rules" organization, when you Abstain from voting, you are essentially voting with the majority. If you feel strongly about something, you need to show-up and vote. Cancelling, is essentially the same as abstaining.

Well I don't know...

IMHO, and that's all it is, I have paid to be there. I have volunteered while I am there. I am new to all this and my very first trailer trip was to Sarasota.

I have sent my feelings as a new member to several officers and one is on the way to my region President. I have every intention to follow up with individuals while I am there...but I will not "quit" the club as I have met some wonderful people in my short time as a member.

I agree that this should NOT pass. BUT, even if it does, this will not help with membership. As it has been noted on another thread how some other manufacturer had a "brand club" with losing memberships. So they opened it to all, and you guessed it, they kept losing to members.

Tell the new "other brand" motorhome owners to join FMCA.... they will have a good time! and leave the silver trailer folks to our own "good times".

Not quite- by the general membership boycotting there is no effect of the deligates voting. I can assure you that there will be no public imput allowed at the delegate voting session. I really wouldn't be surprised if the IBT closed the doors to non-delegates. The first step is that each unit must vote on the issues. Please be sure to vote at your Spring Business meeting. I will not tell anyone how to vote, please just vote! Those votes are supposed to go to your deligate who will then vote according to the total of the units votes for that region. Each unit has a different vote tabulation process. Some submit the actual votes to the delegates, other units tally the votes and the majority wins all the votes the unit has for the national convention. If the IBT is worried about lossing members, wait till this change passes. I'm with Rob. I have a lot of better things to do then spend time in the middle of this real mess. Those folks who we have given the responsibility of watching over our wonderful Airstream club have lost touch with what we, the WBCCI are all about. God Save Wally! I'm staying home!

"The teacher asks her high school American history class:

"Can anyone tell me who started the American Revolution?"

Several hands immediately shot up, the teacher picks the hand belonging to her best student, a thin intellectual looking boy wearing thick glasses who says,
"King George III. He was a stupid blockhead who allowed his Ministers too much power and they oppressed the colonists with high taxes causing them to revolt."

"Wrong," said the teacher and picked the hand of her next best student, an attractive red headed girl with lovely blue eyes and an intelligent face who stated with authority,
"George Washington started the American Revolution.
He wanted to be a British general but was turned down because he was a colonist, and not a true Briton.
So in response to this put down, Washington made himself first a general and then later first president of the United States."

"Wrong," said the teacher who then picked the hand of an intelligent, yet lazy student who never received more than a "B" from her. The boy said,

"Sam Adams. The guy they named the beer after that my dad loves so well.
Sam Adams was the Father of the American Revolution due to the fact that he wanted revenge against the British because they ruined his father
and forced him to wait on tables in order to get a college education.
He never forgave or forgot this insult to his beloved father and himself.
He was the driving force behind, 'The Sons Of Liberty' who spread revolutionary thought and action all over the colonies.
George Washington was a moderate who believed in compromise with the British until 1774 -- the eve of the Revolution."

"Right," said the teacher, "Sam Adams was the prime mover of the American Revolution.
An ocean of ink has been spilled to account for the reasons why our Revolution happened,
but without the actions of a very determined individual some sort of compromise with the British would have been done.

"Class," the teacher continued,
"You will find that history is made by very determined individuals."

There are, of course, mass movements, but these are always the creation of a rugged individualist who can be good or evil. The Prime Mover.
The Atlas...."

At 8:30am on Saturday June 30th there is in fact a Delegates Seminar. That is open to all members to speak out on issues before the club.

That Seminar is immediately followed by the Delegates Meeting. BOTH are open to the entire membership however only Delegates can participate in the Delegates Meeting.

Many units send their Delegates to the International to vote their conscience. For the life of me I have no idea why any members would do that, but it happens. Whether you are a delegate or not, if you feel strongly about this issue, it is important that you attend and speak out at the Delegates Seminar. To the best of my knowledge each and every member is allowed to speak for a minimum of five minutes each (anyone proficient in RRNR can correct me) on ANY topic.

If you hope to sway those Delegates attending, many of which could have tens if not hundreds of votes to cast, showing up at that meeting and voicing your opinion is extremely important.

I wish Rob would reconsider his cancellation. He can do that with a phone call. His absence is just another 5 minute opportunity missed that needs to be heard by the Delegates.

There are many lemmings in this club that will nod their heads yes simply because our leadership asks them to. Many units will line up in support of our leaders believing and trusting that they know what is best for this club.

They will never make the connection that at best this amendment could save 200-300 members that EVENTUALLY need to buy a non-AS MoHo but that by going this route THOUSANDS of silver travel trailers will leave the club.

There's a common sense solution to the problem -- one that saves these members yet retains our current membership requirements. But the MoHo Gang (IBT) won't even consider it seeing as it takes them out of the spotlight and ends their leadership careers.

Even those members that think right now they'll stay will leave over the next few years. There's no sense in staying in a club that has BABBBs coming in one end while all the gleaming silver goes out the other end.

Once a new Airstream manufactured product only club is established the WBCCI will lose its edge. When the new club becomes what the old club no longer is, that will be the end of the WBCCI.

Exclamation Don't Miss the Rally at Perry!

PLEASE KNOW THAT THE INTERNATIONAL RALLY IS AN IMPORTANT TIME FOR ALL MEMBERS

The International Rally is where the Business of the club takes place.
Any member interested in the business of the club should attend the International Rally.

Just to reinerate what was previously posted in this thread...

THE IBT (International Board of Trustees) and the Delegates' SEMINARS that happen at the International Rally site are really the Members' Forums where members may take the floor to speak about an issue.

You go to the microphone, state your name, Unit name, and whether you speak for or against a motion. Then you have a few minutes to state your position on the issue that is on the floor.

The IBT Seminar will be Saturday, June 23 at 8:30 AM.
The IBT Meeting will be Tuesday, June 26 at 8 AM or just after the Executive Committee meets. The IBT votes on Bylaws and Policy.

The Delegates' Seminar will begin at 8:30 AM on Saturday, June 30 and will then be followed by the Delegates' meeting. The Delegates cast their Unit's votes (or vote their conscious if directed to do so by their Unit) on Constitutional issues such as the motorhome issue.

Members may speak at the Seminars but not at the meetings. You may, however, attend the meetings and observe.

Don't miss the International Rally at Perry!

Revolution or Revival?

One should make a distinction between the “American Revolution” and the “American Revolutionary War.” Two different events, the first was the cause the second was a result. We all know about when the war started but the American Revolution was started here with revolutionary ideas that simmered over a long period dating back to the 17th century. It might still be going on.

We want a restorative WBCCI revolution, a revival not a war.
