Please, please don't boycott the International this year. There will always be the usual 500 or so early workers that show up at every International. If we boycott, they will rule the roost.

I'm a LEO too! and my mind is made up! I'm just sick and tired of where all this has been, and is going, and maybe it's finally time to begin anew. I've spoken, let my unit President know my feelings, and asked him to send my concerns (my letter) on to our Region 2 President so that he knows how I feel. I am acting. I've written a letter, and am standing my ground and not going to International! More than most have done! This is to support my friend Bert Kalet and Pete Daniels (two huge WBCCI fans - whom I met through the WBCCI) and how they were treated by the IBT - the IBT took forever and pulled the rug out from under them, with a lame letter and no notice - not even an inkling that they would be willing to help to FIND A WAY! So, I'm doing what they did (our leaders - yeah, right) just on the other end. Who's following? Then, maybe then, they will see the light! I wish the IBT would have even put forth (for the amount of time they took to get the CCCC guys an answer) an effort to poll the units on how they felt about backing the Caravan - but no. I'll vote and will be counted - No to the MHs and Yes to the Caravan (but oh yeah, there is no vote on that - so it becomes No to the International) SYDTR!

Actually in this case by boycotting the International you are saying I give up and you win.
Just the opposite should happen. Everyone who can attend should go and give them an earful. Let them know how you feel. Let them know you want the m out of office and why. Specifics not generalities get results. However you need to be heard.
I un-fortunately got the winter off and have to work until Thanksgiving.

You see it as they winning - I don't see it as a Win / Lose game - I see it as a principle, a club about adventure, that they just don't get! Will they get it if I am there - highly doubt it. Will they get it if I am not - highly doubt it. By principle, I am not attending.
They just aren't getting any more of my money (the IBT nor the current Pres - this is his rally - his location) than what is necessary to remain. I'll continue to pay dues - up until they vote yes - then it's an immediate letter to cancel my membership. You really think they won't vote Yes to let the MHs in - they want members and $$$$$ ($$$$ makes the world go round!)
Good luck with that! Let's hope they vote no, but I'm not holding my breath!
They win? Not if they lose a member! There are other Vintage Clubs out there - that I already belong too - They will win!

Well since I cannot attend most WBCCI rallies due to work schedule and with all the controversy when I get my renewal this year I will politely decline. I have already removed my WBCCI numbers. I need to get my blue AIR numbers.
I have been to one WBCCI unit rally and I was un-comfortable. It was my first Airstream rally. I have been to two AIR forums rallies and immediately felt comfortable. More my kind of people. I made my choice. Whats yours?

"Sam Adams was the prime mover of the American Revolution.
It figures you'd go with the popular beermeister. For my money, Sam's cantankerous lawyer cousin was the prime mover. That's right, our 1st VP and 2nd President.
John Adams wrote quite persuasively in Thoughts on Government a clear articulation of the classical theory of mixed government and, in particular, how it related to the emerging American situation. Adams contended, with remarkable force, the necessary existence of social estates in any political society, and the need to precisely mirror those social estates in the political structures of the society. For centuries, dating back to Aristotle, a mixed regime balancing monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy, or the monarch, nobles, and people was required to preserve order and liberty. Adams, viewing the world through an Enlightenment mind-set, thought all American state constitutions needed to exhibit a wise balance much like the ancient English Constitution had for so long. What was problematic with the English version, and indeed what plagued the entire ancient regime, was its understanding of the hereditary aristocracy. To me, the WBCCI is run much like a hereditary aristocracy. Could you or I ever be elected International President if we chose to throw our hats into the ring? Hell no! Of course we couldn't. Adams and his fellow American political thinkers strongly rejected any hereditary nobility holding political power by virtue of birth. Such people lacked the necessary virtue to balance the people in the legislature, Adams thought, and were prone to corruption.
Using the tools of Republicanism in the United States the patriots believed it was corrupt and nefarious aristocrats, in the English Parlaiment and stationed in America, who were guilty of the British assault on American liberty. Unlike others, Adams thought that the definition of a republic had to do with its ends, rather than its means. He wrote in Thoughts on Government, "there is no good government but what is republican. The very definition of a republic is 'an empire of laws, and not of men.'" Thoughts on Government defended bicameralism, but in place of an inherited aristocracy based on birth, a "natural aristocracy" based on merit and talent would suffice. It would not be hereditary and its political power depended on the votes of the people. A distinguished group of independent, virtuous gentlemen, as Adams put it, could adequately balance the passions of the people represented in the lower house of the legislature. Unfortunately for us still in the WBCCI, our club has morphed into a quasi-hereditary aristocracy.
Thoughts on Government's new rendition of the classical theory of mixed government was enormously influential and established John, not Sam, as the prime mover.
The officers of WBCCI don't seem to be listening to the members. Perhaps we can get their attention if more members do what robandzoe did (http://www.airforums.com/forum...n-24626-7.html, post 89) and cancel their reservation for International and let the office know that it is because of the motorhome and the Capetown to Cario caravan decisions by the Executive Committee and the IBT. Maybe we can get their attention.
What happened?!
There is no post #89 in that thread. Can someone explain here what happened for those of us who missed the action?

Yukionna,

I don't agree with current direction but I'm going to International
I share the feelings of many of my fellow NEU members in regards to the proposed change to allow Four Winds or any non Airstream product into our club (just say NO).
I'm also disappointed in our leadership's decision not to support the Cape Town to Cairo Caravan (actually, I think they are being big dopes).
But, I'm going to International where I will be showing my 50 year old face and presenting my point of view to anyone I can capture/corner so that they know (I'm talking regular rank and file here) that the direction our leadership is going in does not meet the needs or expectations of "younger" members.

Looking for a WBCCI Unit filled with fun loving folks to camp and travel with in the New England area? Well, you've just found it:

We in the WDCU can vote no and not be at the International to do so. Unfortunataly we have to send the "short straw" to cast the vote.
