I can only speak for myself. The man was a marketing genius WAY ahead of his time.

He should be included in every university Marketing major's course work. His formation of the club garnered so much free publicity and helped create the iconic status that the Airstreams have today.

Just my opinion though....

Jim

My friend said last week at the campground, it's an RV, not a religion. She made me laugh too. It was so unexpected.

Oh yeah, Wally and Stella knew and and Pee Wee knows a lot about promotion and image! Good stuff. Can't hear and see enough of it. That's what keeps me in the club, it's history. Too bad the WBCCI chooses to keep the wrong parts of what is old, and not the essence of what made the vibrant years.

Wow!!!...I know there are kinks in the system but dam, these are more then kinks. These are weak links that need to be changed. I would give up my presidency of the Metro Detroit Unit, if it would help the old farts to get of there butts and see the world does need a change to stay alive. I do not think I will be renewing my membership when it comes due...Sorry WBCCI, you lose.

Yeah... but don't try to tell the WBCCI that.
They'll excommunicate you.

Paula,

Actually, the elders of the WBCCI do not venerate Wally. To name just one example, they refused to seat Wally's nearest living relative, Dale (Pee Wee) Schwamborn as 4CU delegate at Bozeman because he did not have the correct class of membership. (His membership is honorary--you have to be a due-paying member to serve as a delegate.)

We know who the elders of the WBCCI worship, don't we. . .

If they aren't careful, the IBT will be asking, "For whom the bell tolls?" and the answer will be, "it tolls for the IBT!"

Unfortunately, the way the system works, you can't get rid of them.

As Henny Youngman would say, "take my IBT, please."

The IBT, "you can't live with them and you can't kill them."

You can get rid of them. Just refuse to pay the dues. The club fails and maybe a new club will reemerge. That's what I did after just being a member for one year. After listening to last years meetings in Georgia it was obvious the IBT hadn't a clue. And I could not justify the majority of my dues going to the IBT and not the local unit.

Jelly-Belly even makes a Pop-Corn flavored Jelly Bean. One of my favorites!

Bob has stellar credentials and many years of service in the WBCCI. I think the post "Who is Bob Thompson" really shows the level of commitment the region 1 president has and the degree that his integrity can be trusted. I want to read more when available. I support Bob and I want to hear what he has to say and offer. I have no doubt that this whistle blower issue is based on fact and it will move members to action concerned with real ethics.

All this bulls**t for a camping club. Somebody needs to get a life. We are glad we have a MH and belong to the FMCA. We were just getting ready to join the WBCCI again. Maybe we should put in the by-laws no ex military or school administrators can serve on the IBT. This seems to be where all the trouble is coming from.
Let me repeat(WE ARE AN AIRSTREAM CAMPING AND CARAVAN CLUB) no less, no more.
