Just received the E mail that the August BB is available online. Only a week after receiving the paper copy. Usually the online version is available in advance of the paper one.
Maybe the problems have been straightened out and next month will be back to normal

It was working yesterday, now it is back to June. It could just be a cached page I am seeing because here at work, they have a proxy cache to save bandwidth.
You can get it directly RIGHT HERE.

It works at home for me so its my work's proxy cache. I hope that soon, in the very near future, the BB will be available directly from the WBCCI's new web site as both a downloadable PDF file and as the free Issuu reader as well.

Back to one of Rick's original comments.

The inclusion of critical comments directed at the lack of acceptance of a new member by the Elite Leadership and the way the Revised Constitution was delayed and misrepresented over the past year is the first breath of fresh air I have seen since joining the WBCCI.

As one of those Younger Members, 71, working for change I was pleasantly surprised that there may be hope.

I, for one member, was very pleased to see that Tim K is now a member of the electronic communication committee and I was very pleased by his comments in the meetings in Du Quoin regarding this committee. After all that has happened to him in the past, this may be a sign that things are changing in the WBCCI.

Bill, If I can say - it has been a great change. At this point, everything I was willing to offer and do for the club is being realized! The reception to the work that the entire ECC has been doing is so positive that I know we will be making a great and positive difference for the whole club.
We all have been working hard for the club and I hope soon that those results will be implemented for all the members to see.
Every presentation I have made, every meeting I have had with every officer and member of the club has been positive.
I do believe that change is happening - positive change. I hope other members will jump onboard and help forge a new path for the club.

Thanks Bill for the positive vote of confidence!

I would like to see those comments more often! I agree with them. Change is apparent to me, as well. Just not everywhere or on every topic.

I am away from home. Got my e-mail link and downloaded the .pdf. I was happy to find the notification in my mailbox and enjoy the quality of the BB. Now if content and format changed I would be an even happier camper. I like they spend some of my money on something I like and is something for me.

Please tell me you made that all up Carol. There is no way members actually pay money for that.

back to Blue Beret Online: quick hint for iPhone/iPad owners open up the Blue Beret url for the Blue Beret Online .pdf. after it opens you should see "save to iBooks" and there you have the entire thing in your device. Same with Blue Book. Just pointing this out as I met a couple of people that did not know they could do this though it most likely seems obvious to long time apple iphone users...

Wonder why all the begging for money? A fast glance at the p&L looks like the club came out $73000 plus in the black this year, which would be more than $10 per member. In other words the $10. dues increase was not really needed.
Or possibly I am mis-reading the financial statement since I am not qualified in that area.

That's how I read it, too. What do they need the donation for? If there were some major project they were undertaking (say, rebuilding the HQ building) they needed to raise funds for, okay, but just general donations?

I've been an Apple product user for some time now (iPhone, iPad, etc.) Having the BB available online has been great. Distributing it in a .pdf format works well, but I would like to see an option to download an .epub version would be nice also. When opened in iBooks, an epub looks much more "book like". For filing purposes, a standard file name would be nice as well. Something like, "BB-September-2011" This would allow the user to just glance down the iBook bookcase and locate the issue they are interested in. These changes/enhancements are all format in nature and should not result in any additional cost.

That said, I greatly appreciate the effort of those involved to bring an electronic version to the membership.

Rick,

About half of the profit came from the international and half from operations. Dues could be reduced about $5 eack and the international fee about $70 each and still be at about breakeven. Hopefully the international fee can be reduced in the future if they continue to earn a profit.

Bill

What happened to the post Frank is referring to? It was there yesterday and referred to different levels of support/pledges to the WBCCI. Gold,Silver and other levels. Now it's gone. Like it was never there. Did I hallucinate it? A TIA????
