Leo, can you remind us of the voting procedure? Doesn't each Unit get one vote yes or no - and all of the members in that Unit are counted as a vote?

In other words, my Unit - the Watchung Unit has let's say - fifty members. In our Unit vote, 26 members vote to allow the the SOB's into the club and 24 are against it - my Unit will cast 50 votes to allow SOBs at the delegates meeting at International. Do I have this right?

Voting will be done at the unit level. From there a delegate will be sent to the International rally to cast the final vote.

Delegates for each unit will be instructed on how to vote on behalf of their members. Some units will cast all of it's votes for or against. Some will cast a number for or against. It all depends on how the delegate is instructed to vote.

Why would two separate Airstream clubs be out of the question. There are two separate Ford Thunderbird Clubs and three separate Model A Ford Clubs, all of which use the Ford name. Why couldn't a Classic Airstream Club be created. By "classic", I don't mean only vintage travel trailers, I mean all twinkie-shaped Airstream travel trailers of any vintage. In other words, a club for the trailers that represent the classic airstream design.

Classic Airsteam Club is already an Intra Club along with Amateur Radio Club, CB Radio Club, Free Wheelers Club, Full Timers Club, Genealogy Club, The Computer Club, and the Vintage Airstream Club.

OK then, call it the Airstream Trailer Club or possibly, the Traditional Airstream Club.

Brian-
As much as I would love to start the Airstream Club of America, anyone who would want to do so would have to obtain a license to use the name AIRSTREAM. Till there is no pulse left at WBCII and they are close, our best course is to get like minded people in office!

Go for it. The motorhome owners won't miss you a bit.

There has been a lot of chatter about A/S trailers. My impression is that true A/S MOHOs would be included. This is all about rebadging SOB MOHOs and calling them A/S. My impression also is that this whole "new club" idea is very tongue-in-cheek.

Thanks Dave-

Yes, tongue in cheek. Airstream Club of America would never be allowed by Thor or Airstream. It would be fun though, wouldn't it? We must get true Airstream lovers into office ay WBCCI. Enough of the same old %$#%^% and lets put the club back on the road Wally paved for us. How do we do that? By keeping our feet on the ground, getting nominated and voted in and search our souls for what makes an Airstream and its owner different.

If your a MAL, this is time to send your $1 in to WDCU. You need to have a vote for this one.

Jack is RIGHT!!!

If you are a "MAL" and care one way or the other, you need to contact Star Grover about moving your membership over to the WDCU. After the voting, if you wish to go back to a "MAL" status thats fine! You can always move your membership back to being a MAL. I will say you will save 14 bucks next year by staying with us. But that's your choice. Here's a link to our website.

Airstream club vintage trailer WDCU WBCCI region 2 Unit 170

In the WDCU, we cast the votes as they are casted at the unit level and let the chips fall as they may. We "DO NOT" cast all votes one way or the other. This way it truly is "1M1V" in our unit. Hope to hear from ya soon! Plus, we just got our really cool "black flag, capital in white and Washington DC Unit in red" approved at the IBT. Thank You Barry our Region 2 Prez and Don the Region 1stVP for the help!!

Why not continue to promote Airstream Forums Rallies, and get togethers. No club dues, no nothin' but a good time sharing the aluminitus we all have.
We have had 8 rallies ourselves, each bigger and better than the one before, and every one fun.

Has anyone ever approached Thor on the subject of forming an "affinity" club? I know the masked bandit GT 65 will jump in and go on and on about the WBCCI/Thor licensing agreement. That is beside the point. If the sales/PR department are monitering these threads, I know damn good and well that they would be responsive and open to ideas that put an AS organization in a positive light. If Thor is so hardnosed, why is there a publication called AirStream Life? Too, Thor is making 2000 AS units a year and the WBCCI is losing memberships. Duh?

Perhaps it's time to take a good look at alternatives to the WBCCI. Maybe the VAC members might want to cut the cord and use this as an excuse.

I think Alan is onto something as well. The things that traditionally are required for a club (meetings, newsletters, votes) can be done away with on a website like this one. I've alway been interested in camping with other Airstreamers, trailers, motorhomes, people who like Airstream...people who like camping. Sounds a lot like a Forum Rally. Let the club sort it out, vote of you want...but for crying out loud is they are called "recreational" vehicles for a reason people - chill.

... and turn your back on the WBCCI? Why can't we have the best of both worlds? I think forum rallys are great! But I have also had a great time at a couple of WBCCI rallys. I can't wait to get my baby back from the shop and hit the road with my fellow Airstreamers.

I don't want to leave the WBCCI. I especially don't want to leave to the IBT the $1.3 million kitty that exists. I don't think the IBT has our best interests at heart. I truly believe they are only concerned about themselves in this issue and are trying to delude the rest of us, and perhaps themselves, into believing this is good for the WBCCI.

If all you want to do is have rally forums that's fine with me. I'd love to join you sometime. Won't you join us in defeating the IBT's self-serving Constitutional amendment?

Prince?

Maybe we should take the lead of the singer PRINCE. Create a symbol (@) for our club and call ourselves "The Club Formally Known as WBCCI?"

Theme: Old Ang Syne (spelling?

Motto: "Forget, Hell!"

Song: "This Old Guitar" (tune by John Denver, lyrics something creative by the Vagabonds, ex: "This old air stream helped me to..."

Hmmmmmmm. Maybe this needs a whole new thread?!!!!

You can like it all you want.
You just can't use it to start a club.

Silver

How about "The Silver Palace RV Club of America?" We could define Silver Palace as anything we want.
