I'm going to go out a limb and imagine that Renee Ettlinger's Communication Liason Committee had many of the same suggestions listed as or will be listed with the new 2020 committee. Unfortunately through a web glitch on WBCCI.org forums much was lost of postings before the new administration (though I think Leo has rescued much of it and preserved it somewhere.) As chairwoman Renee received flack from member(s) of the IBT delivering her objective accumulation of input from members as to credibility, reliability and subjectivity and was suspicious of the scope of her results, while she made her report at the IBT Rally in Georgia.

What appeared to be properly working in a liason capacity, FOR THE MEMBERS, was then disbanded and then started anew. At this rate there can be no end of questionaires, reports, surveys, committees and all with the appearance of complying with membership satisfaction. Um...er...well, I guess I am now synical.

I would like to see the statistics of the number of lost members and the reason why before I accept the data and IF it were true, would we likewise be prudent to force people out of their current units that may also have an unusually high drop out rate to be guardians of the club's numbers?

I thought you were. I do remember the aspirations based on fairness and not on the basis of success or likelihood of outcome for none other than the altruistic reason that it would be the right thing to do. And what did you find but that doing the right thing did garner you support and you did facilitate change.

Not a snowballs chance, so to speak, of it happening? I find that unfortunate. But up until I am escorted out of my status as a member of the WBCCI at large without unit affiliation I will hold out hope and try to instigate support from others who may be like minded.

If I wanted to draft amendments or become an officer or delegate or balance my egg on the acceptable end, I guess I would join a unit. For now I just want to be part of the WBCCI for its history and its appeal to me as an Airstreamer and meet other Airstreamers. The rest of the hoopla I leave to the enthusiasts and they can have all the fun they want with protocol, flags, parades and merit awards, appreciation benefits, badges and restrictions and gudelines. They can even boast to the tree tops that they have THE most fun of all and are THE coolest part of the WBCCI and I won't even challenge it.

But as a full member of this club paying full membership fee I contend I am due my right to vote, and if there is anything in the constitution or bylaws that should not have been there to begin with, it most certainly would be the voting procedures devoid of one member one vote.

So Lynn, are you getting the info you want/need for the 2020 committee? I realize that the MAL issue is a major one but there are a lot of other things that need to be identified, prioritized, and may have a better chance of being initiated sooner.

Just my thoughts,

Barry

Does anyone know how many MALs there are presently? What percentage of the Club do they comprise. I'll bet there are more MALs than some regions have members. Why do some want to dismiss the MAL situation as unimportant and meaningless?

~650 and YES thats a big chunk...~10% all members.

yes there is MORE turn-over in the mal segment (which is labeled as unit #000 by the club)

but it is also a GROWING segment, with more folks joining EACH month as mals than ANY other unit...

i understand paying some extra, because the home office does ALL the work of processing this group.

were as volunteers do most of the member work at other unit levels.

the yearly member stats STOPPED including mal numbers (unit #000) in 2005 (i wonder why)...

and raising the fees for this group or ELIMINATING it or booting specific members of #000 is easy...

because of the lack of member at large rights and voice...

until now.

cheers

Info that I need? I guess so, but I started the thread for all of us to talk about the report.

Prioritizing changes is going to be a really tough one, in my view. At this point, I'd be really happy just seeing some kind of indication from the IBT that changes are forthcoming.

Of course, I also hope that the changes that the IBT envisions are of the right flavor, too!

Lynn

Show me the money

Good thread Lynn.I agree with what many have said.As being a member of a former WBCCI committee,I am really following this issue. What I am longing to see is a suggestion put forward by the committee ASAP,and more importantly, implimentation by the IBT.It doesn't have to be an earth shattering change, just something, anything,to show that those who have VOLUNTEERED have not invested their time needlessly. We need a bone from the IBT.

Yep, I went ahead and posted a question to the WBCCI forum, basically asking for the same. Maybe I posted to the wrong thread there?

Lynn
