Here's a photo today of a line of Airstreamers on the fairgrounds waiting to be parked. It was good to see some blue sky and the sun today.

Tonight at before the entertainment it was announced over 500 Airstreams are on the fairgrounds. As of 8:00 pm tonight we do have water but the pressure is very low. Not enough water pressure to take a shower. We are under a boil water advisory. If you are on the way to Lewisburg, come with full water tanks and bring bottled water for cooking, drinking, and brushing your teeth.

Here's a photo of this evening's entertainment - Half Bad Bluegrass Band.

The suggestion to arrive with a full tank of fresh water is a good idea IMO. We did that and don't plan to connect to local water for several days.

Some restaurants and food providers are closed and some have limited menus and offerings and hours. Prepared/packaged foods are available in most stores but fresh food that requires water for preparation or washing of utensils is limited.

Stock up on food and bottled water before you arrive. The items are available in town but it may be better to leave these items on the shelves for local citizens.

The local shop owners are happy to see us here. Keeping money flowing (cash mob) is important at this point.

Our 3G and 4G Verizon phones are working well.

Sounds like the "joy in the camp" has been bit of a challenge for sure. It reminds me of taking my Scout Troop for a camping weekend on the New River Gorge in WV. Rains were bad but nothing like what the good folks in WV have in past few days. Yet, when it was time to leave...it took "TRACTORS" with winches, block and tackle devices to "extract" us from the grounds. And...we were only sleeping in "tents"! Lots of great memories for you attendees....take "copious notes" to share at future campfires......assuming you do "in fact" get to leave!

I saw on my FB feed that the rally took up a collection and raised nearly $5k to help out the local community.

Arrived yesterday. Stopped at two grocery stores prior to entry. Both fully stocked. No shortages that I could tell. Water is still considered undrinkable so definetly arrive with full water tanks. Facility showers are operational. Traffics in the area is busy as this town appears to be a staging area for emergency service vehicles. Come on up and join the crowd. The area and town of Lewisburg wants us here. They have invested a lot of cash in this rally and our being here and supporting the local economy will go a long way in helping the surrounding area get back on its feet. We can be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

That was what was collected at the 2 sunday church services. Additional donations are being collected for specific local charities and agencies.

While eating lunch in a local Lewisburg eatery today I over heard three people wearing rally badges loudly and rudely complaining about the lack of their favorite soda. I was so embarrassed. I just as loudly apologized to the manager for their crude and obnoxious behavior. When they left they all gave me the evil eye. I would post where they were from but I do not want to lump others members from that area with the offenders. The manager thanked me and told me that she had been getting rally people in for several days complaining about one thing or the other. They have no potable water coming thru the system and some supplies are short. Please people remember that you represent the WBCCI when you wear your badges on and off the the fair grounds. Be grateful not critical.

It's sad to read the above about the negative and rude comments and attitudes... Geez with all that has occurred lately in the region, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out things are not and will not be normal nor as planned... they're all speed bumps in life...

I've been around or owned Airstreams for years. I've always heard the same stereotypes stated about AS owners, arrogant, rude, rich and condescending. Some of us have tried forever to dispel these ideas. Obviously for some owners, the stereotype is correct. A few can make a huge difference, there's nothing that can be done except for the rest of us acting the opposite. If you don't believe these attitudes are present, just hang around a dealership or gathering and listen to the conversations. It's a shame and embarrassing.

There's a post on airstream addicts Facebook page about members at the rally preparing care packages for victims of the floods. That's great news. Proud of you guys.

How 'bout you WBCCI naysayers go to the Lewisburg rally site

http://lewisburg.wbcci.net/

and see what WBCCI is doing at Lewisburg.

I realize that it may challenge your cherished misconceptions.

AWCHIEF is at Lewisburg and has no cherished misconceptions. And all of the good that WBCCI is doing at Lewisburg does not excuse the fact that some WBCCI members have voiced complaints that were overheard by members of the general public even if the comments might not have been meant for the public's ears.

Those WBCCI members who are doing good works, keep it up. But those who have anything negative to say about the local community, please remember that there is no such thing as a private conversation in a public place.

Maybe it's because I'm from New Orleans and we've lived through our own natural disasters— and dealt with our own litany of complaints from outsiders both during and after— but I'm actually quite impressed with the way the good people of West Virginia have handled their tribulations. And I'm embarrassed by those few fellow WBCCI members who have the unmitigated gall to complain about the conditions in Lewisburg in front of people who might be worse off than themselves.

The outpouring of support by those attending the rally for those effected by the storm is amazing. Monetary, supplies and labor continue to be given daily. It makes me proud to be part of this organization. The Fair Grounds is a staging area for supplies coming into the area. Several semi trucks full are arriving daily. Teams of members are assisting in unloading and preparing those supplies for distribution. Others are providing hard labor in helping the effected clean up their homes and businesses. Fund raising events are held daily. The people of Lewisburg and the surrounding area are bending over backwards to make us all feel welcome to their beautiful state. Local news cast have been very positive about the WBCCI and all the efforts made by members to do what ever they can to assist those effected.

We met a local gentleman yesterday at the Habitat for Humanity office. He closed his pizza food truck and is helping other people - cutting tree limbs, moving furniture, etc. He thanked us ( 4 Airstreamers) for taking time to help clean out the Habitat offices.

So where's his food truck? His regular location is right at the entrance to the fairgrounds. Hundreds of Airstreamers walk past his closed food truck every day. Instead of focusing on making money he's spending his time helping others. The local community, as well as the temporary community of Aistreamers, is pulling together to dig out of this disaster.
