I usually encourage MAL's to visit local unit rallies in their area. Find one you like and you will get your money's worth for little additional cost of the local dues and you will get more weekend for your total membership costs. If you can not do local rallies, then Internet units are lower cost that remaining a MAL.

The NOVA Unit listed in post 5 is great for MAL's. All of our meetings are held online with no physical CG to care for.

Well, all in all - there is no reason that there should be a MAL - thre are too many fantastic units near enough to everyone to make the MAL class unnecessary.

I wonder how many MALs are repeating that status through the years. For such a large collective group, many must find it suitable and preferable for them to choose to be MALs. I have the honor of being signed to WBCCI's newest unit NOVA this year but I have been a MAL before and I would like to see that optional status continue for the future. It's possible that a non-MAL would have less bias towards it, while belonging to a unit and possibly also an intraclub; but it certainly seems to fill the bill for many others. Perhaps it is a matter of becoming unevenly yoked together that they wish to avoid. One reson for a number of MALs joining units may be the higher dues applied singularly towards MALs to discourage them from being MALs. I find the matter of a vote less imperative then I once considered it.
This year there may or may not be as many late sign ups to the WBCCI as in previous years. There is no way to know at this time.

The Wally Byam Caravan Club International, an owner owned organization of Airstream owners. One joins to meet and enjoy the company of other Airstream owners. There are caravans and unit rallies all over the United States and Canada.

Wbcci
I have been a member for about 18 years and my wife and I have been local unit presidents. We recently rewrote the club's international website and it explains all the benefits of membership. Here is the link. http://wbcci.org/
If you have the time to participate in, and enjoy, the type of benefits offered, it is a good deal. The club has over a hundred local chapters and you may be able to find one close to you that you would enjoy attending. Each Local has a different membership make up and interests, so you should check out a couple, if they are close by. Most do not demand that you join before attending some events to sample. Give it a try.
