I never said I hated WBCCI.But from my stand point and my area, where the old timers(I am old) in WBCCI don't want any new people ,they like their club the way it is , dying, I guess. IF the fee for a family is $615.00 thats half a months wages for me. That will buy alot of fuel and I can camp a month on that.

I dropped the hint to my wife the other night and didn't get much of a response so I guess we will be out. It's only about 900 miles from our town to Madison. Not as far as I would have imagined; that's about 2-3 days comfortable driving. We could have swung through Chicago to visit family. Oh well. Sugarfoot, maybe you can help me work on her at the Southeast End-of-Summer Rally.

More Resources for Things to Do and Places to Eat

I just found web resources for two of my favorite travel books. Check out their home page and then search by state for interesting things to do & see and places to eat in Wisconsin. For that matter... you can map out your entire trip around unusual attactions and off-the-beaten-path gastromical fare.

I want to go right now - I don't think I can wait a year!

We Will Be There

Madison is so close to our home that we will be there. I attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison for a period of 7 years. NO it didn't take that long I have more than one degree. A well kept secret is the ice cream made at the Agriculture Department on campus. I have great memories of beer, brats, and pretty girls. Unfortunately those girls are now 68 year old women. Thank goodness for memories.

Um.. yeah, I remember Madison to be a college party town... went to visit a student there a few times and uh, the dorms... yeah.. enough of that...

'Course that girl (and her dormies) are in their mid 30s now...

Thanks for the tip. That's exactly the kind of information I hoped for. We had a similar experience at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln - that was some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. We'll be sure to check out the Ag Department in Madison. Who knows, maybe we can get the Ag Department to come to our rally. Anybody for ice cream happy hour?

Mike,

The cost of the rally plus 30 amp is only a little expensive. We will likely arrive a few days early and leave on the 5th, so will be parked for 10 days. That comes to $48.50 per day for us. Also, included in that cost is the rally fee and not just parking, electric, water, and dump (or pump). The rally fee covers all the offered activities. Granted, the entertainment hasn't been that great at the Int'l rallies we've been to, but usually one or two has been good. For instance, we really enjoyed Montana Rose while we were in Bozeman. Anyway, the fee is what you make of it. If you don't use it then it will seem expensive, but if you take advantage of at least some of the things that are offered then it's a deal. Also, the earlier you park the more you get for your money. What you pay is the same whether you arrive early and leave late, or arrive late and leave early. Volunteer workers make out the best (sometimes) as some of them are there a month prior to the actual rally.

I have no problem paying the rally fee. (However we should be getting better entertainment for the price.) I really have a problem getting shafted at the rate of $35.00 a day for electricity. Maybe there should be a small early/late parking charge to more equitably distribute the costs.
