If you read Article VII, Section 2C, of the Constution, you will see that a member who sells his Airstream can remain a member as long as she/he continues to pay dues. The Blue Book with this info can be downloaded from WBCCI.org
Jim, there's one more small but very important part of this section of the Constitution "...provided such members do not own another brand of recreational vehicle except such Regular Members may own another brand of recreational vehicle that is parked in a permanent or semi-permanent location to be used by the members as a vacation facility or as a home. (6/29/96) Emphasis mine (actually it is Art VI Qualification of Members). Tom

The March 1st date has come and gone, so for '08 it is highly unlikely we'll see this in Bozeman. There are ways for it to show up, but, something about a snowball's chance in hell?
*IF* it were to pass the Region 3 Board (thankfully we're seeing our first sane NO vote from ENCU) by an overwhelming majority (I'm guessing 9/10ths) then the Region President COULD bring it before the IBT as his own motion. It would require another 9/10ths approval by the IBT to bring it to the Delegates Meeting.
*IF* that motion were brought forward that way, I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong), the Delegates would also have to pass the motion by 9/10ths in order for it to pass.
*IF* I'm close on all of that, we're back to the snowball for '08.
*IF* Region 3 passes this thing in late April -- it WILL be on the Delegate's agenda for '09. There's no way of stopping it once it gets past a Region Board. The membership's only recourse at that point is to campaign to have it voted down, OR, to draft some counter legislation that would also show up at the Delegates Meeting in '09.
Of course I'm not an expert at Robert's Rules, but this 9/10ths thing has been floated by me a number of times as a super-majority, or the likes of... I've got nothing to back that up...
At least it might further the discussion and get some RRNR wiz to step up...
to get the word out about this, for this year's Delegate's mtg., either way. If the word is out the delegates will be ready for it if it comes up. If not, the awareness factor will surely jolt all into dis-belief that this subject has come up again.
We have to stay AHEAD of this ball! These silly ideas are seriously effecting the membership. People are dropping out. Many have sent word that they will not be renewing in the WBCCI because the're not focused on the members, saying "there's nothing in it for me" -- just silly ideas. Oh, these same folks are staying in the VAC as associate members!
No means NO! No matter how you put it or how it sounds. Bringing this up again shows desparation. It shows how incredibly narrow-minded and panic-driven these members are.
Perhaps we should all buy life memberships and rock the vote.
Let's all keep strong and keep moving forward. Let's figure out what we can all do to make the WBCCI exciting and forward thinking? Spread the word about how silly this idea is and get back to focusing on AIRSTREAMs!

It is not possible to remain a member of the VAC if you drop membership in the WBCCI. The VAC is an intra club and membership in the parent club is required. Associate membership is reserved for WBCCI members who have Airstreams newer then 25 years.
I knew you knew that! BTW, great job on the newsletter. Are you guys going to the RMVAC rally this year?
Sometimes I think too fast for my typing! That's why I have a couple (several) proof readers to watch over me!
Tim has to work that week so we decided to go to the International in Bozeman.
Thanks for the kudos on the newsletter. It is great fun. New issue in the mail this next week and working on a special International issue to come out shortly after.
Will you be at Bozeman? And, when will you be sending in your FCu rally stories and pics for the VA? Upcoming rally announcements? etc.? ...no pressure!
Let's all focus on keeping members, bringing in new members and blow this recurring MOHO issue out of the pool . Spread the word on how silly and defeating it really is.

There wasn't a roll call vote, only a show of hands. Of the 22 Units in Region 3, only four of five hands went up in favor of the amendment. All the rest voted no, and I didn't see any abstentions. I voted no for my Unit.

Thanks again, I was the only no vote in our unit I think our unit was 8-1 with the other members not responding.
