Thumbs up We finally got it!

After a few delays due to weather and work commitments, we were able to pick up our 2004 28' CCD International!
Everyone is very excited and anxious to use it.

She is so gorgeous!! Congrats!!! Is that the best feeling or what, having that on the back of your Durango? I guess it is too cold to go for an overnighter?

Well, I am proud to say it is my turn now! I get to pick up my new 30' Classic tomorrow. But I get to take her straight to the coast and play all weekend! Won't be able to sleep much tonight.

61overlander,

Will do! I only towed about 75 miles total to bring it home and take to storage. I've never towed ANYTHING before but I was comfortable with the way the combination felt. I never felt underpowered or had any problems on Interstate with tractor/trailers passing, etc. I posted some additional pics in my album.

Well we are going to have a fairly nice contingent of new trailers. Anyone considering a new unit should come. You will see the them all. From Bambi, Internationals, Safaris, and Classics.

Cosmotini.......

I forgot to ask one thing and also noticed something in one of your pics.

First, did you buy from the local dealer in Gilman?

Second in the picture below, I noticed that although the Durango is level, the coach is a bit propped back. Are the weight bars attached? If so, you might try one less link. This might make the car a bit lower, but will level out the coach and place all the weight on both axles rather than a bit more of the weight on the rear axle....just a suggestion.

Beautiful rig.

Cosmotini,
Beautiful rig. We love our Hemi when towing. Only one question: What is that brown surface under the trees in your photo? Everywhere I look there is over a foot of this nasty white stuff. AAArrrrggghhh! When is spring going to arrive??????????

Looks like this picture was taken at Bill Thomas' dealership in St. Louis. First glance I would think also that it might be one link to high also. Bill's spots there are pretty level.

Sometimes one link is almost too much. I had this issue with my Safari and my half ton van. With fuel tank full on the van the trailer had a very slight nose down attitude although as the fuel tank emptied that difference would go away. If I dropped an additional link to make thinks perfect, I'd end up in a slight nose up attitude once the fuel level dropped. It was very minor and many folks probably wouldn't notice it....but I did.

Looks like you might have an Equal-i-zer Hitch which if so requires a different adjustment since it doesn't use lifting chains. I know Bill sells more Equal-i-zers than Reese's. Hopefully Leroy went over this with you during his orientation with you.

Jack

SA-WEET!!

Gotta love that "Patriot Blue". Like it so much, I bought a truck of the same color! (see photo album) But alas, it does not have a hemi Oh, well...maybe the next one.

and speaking of that, what's the rear-end on the Durango? I can't remember exactly what I read about the tow ratings on the new one's w/ hemi, etc, but it is considerably larger than that of my half-ton pickup. Wonder what the towing nazi's will have to say about this, though....

anyway, congrats on your new aquisitions.

Very nice! Looks grand with your Durango.

Did you experience any wind stability issues with passing trucks, etc.? How did that feel?

Enjoy.
