Service Bulletin: #131, Chassis frame rail bracing
Having read the topic below, International AS factory modification, I decided to research whether I had the modification done since I was never notified after purchasing my AS in early 2004. My Airstream number is below the 515567 so I called Airstream Customer Service. Dick, Customer Service, checked my number as said it was done by a dealership in Indiana prior to its transfer to Soutwest Coaches in Irvine where I purchased it. He had to look through his files of hard copies since they were not introduced into their computer data at that time. Dick faxed a copy of the service bulletin, #131, and I checked the modification under my trailer. It was done so neatly that I would have never noticed the modification without the bulletin. Everyone at Airstream was super nice and very accomodating. It is nice to know that we have that kind of service backup.

We have a 2002 22' CCD. This is the first I've heard of this issue. Should I be concerned? Where/how can I view Service Bulletin #131? Thanks in advance.

Ah, found my own answer on the Forum. It seems that the mod is for the 22' International with the rear kitchen, not for the 22' CCD. Guess I should have been more patient in searching before I asked for help!

No worries...
I am just glad that you don't have a problem. How is your CCD holding up? Do you use it often? Are you happy with the layout? I am sure that people love the interior. We were torn between the AS and the CCD. As much as the interior rocked on the CCD, the layout of the AS fit us better. I wish we could travel more. During these trying economic times, we relish the fact that we have the Airstream to fall back on. We could definitely live out the rest of our lives in the Airstream with our French Bulldog, Kermit.

Wayne,
'Frame stiffeners' have also been added to some 22' CCDs. The dinette seats in our 2005 22' CCD repeatably became detached from the floor and wall. Jackson Center added 'stiffeners' during the warranty period. You'll find others on the forum that have also had problems. Keep an eye out for problems like popping rivets and occasionally check the frame and welds around the outriggers.
We love the layout, and we've made changes to make it near perfect for our needs -- living in it for months at a time.

Checked with Airstream
Yesterday I emailed Airstream support to determine the status of my 22' . I sent them my VIN and they responded today: "Your trailer was built after the TSB was out there and would not need this"
I had checked the frame and noted that there was a rectangular piece of medal welded on the frame just aft of the rear axle. Clearly some kind of additional bracing. Mine appeared to have been painted the same time as everything else, so it looks like my "brace" was put on in-line during the production process.

Firemo,
We are very happy with our 22' CCD. It's a 2002, and we've owned it since 2004. We love the openness of the floor plan and the large streetside galley, all of which works very well for us. Happily, we've had no problem with popped rivets or the dinette seats. Our dinette seats are "old style", and that may make a difference. I will keep an eye on things, and check visually for any cracks in the frame. Also, I think I'll shoot Airstream an email to check on the status of things from their point of view. Thanks for all of the input... as always this forum steps up to the plate!
