Poor TV cable reception

We have tested our LCD TV using cable hookup twice at different camp grounds. Both times we couldn't receive all the channels we were supposed to get, and the ones that did come in (only one or two) looked bad. Lots of snow and lines. Has anyone else had this problem? I checked the connections incase they were loose and everything looked O.K. We thought maybe it was our trailer wiring.

Can you test it at your [usual] residence (a long wire might be required)?

What is an antenna amplifier? Don't know if I have one. Can't try cable at home because we have satellite. I will look for the antenna amplifier. Thanks

look for a wall plate near the tv with a red l.e.d., with small switch on it and a 12volt outlet. it also has a 75 ohm connection for your tv. follow the cable back from your set, you should find it.

the amplifier is on when the l.e.d. is lit. it may cause problems with your cable signal. you can turn it off by flipping the switch on the wall plate.

Most modern, electronic tuned televisions have a "broadcast/cable" selection when setting up your television. It is in the main menu with the channel setup options. Make sure it is highlighted on "cable", and let the TV find all available channels. If you then go with your antenna, make sure you change the settings accordingly, and have the TV re-search available channels of broadcast.

I've seen the light you are speaking of and it is located under the kitchen table along with the coax cable connection. I will also try going into the TV menu/setup and see if I can make a selection for cable. Thanks everyone....I will let all know if I can solve the problem with your help.

Hello -

I have the same trailer and experienced the same problem.
The antenna amplifier light is green on my trailer and it needs to be turned OFF for cable reception and ON for antenna reception.
There is a small push-in button right bu the light to turn it on and off.
Best of luck!
