Our new CCD is home!

Hey Everyone,

We went to our dealer on Friday, did the walk through and systems checks, and had the brake controller and the hitch installed. Everything works, only a couple of very minor items found (missing rivet and a screw head cover). We spent the night at the dealer and headed home on Saturday morning. Two days in the driveway to begin the organization process and then to the storage facility tomorrow. (We have 1st Communion celebrations for the next two weekends so we'll have to wait to take her on her maiden voyage May 6-8).

So far, so good, but then again we have not used all of the systems yet. We had our girls along and this slowed down the whole learning curve as we had to tend to them, as needed. It rained slightly today and one of the fantastic fans closed but then opened while it was still sprinkling, actually closed only momentarily. It didn't rain enough of recheck it. Overall we are very pleased with the fit and finish, thank you Airstream for what seems to be a well made unit. The dealer, Craig Smith RV in Galion, OH had it looking nice, too. Our salesman, Matt Sisson, treated us like family through the whole process...very accommodating, proactive, and pleasant.

Our TV is performing well, 14.8 mpg on the return leg of the trip, running at 58 to 60 mph. No problems with sway from semi-trucks, lots of road construction on the way home and some narrow lanes, but happy to report there were no issues.

Thank you all for your advice, answers, suggestions...this forum has helped us to ask the right questions (and to spend a significant amount of cash on items you have recommended) and get just what we wanted. We posted a few pix.

Congratulations!
The trailer you just bought is one of our favorite Airstreams. The layout and interior flow seems near perfect.
I am sure you will have many years of memories by the time your kids will be grown.

Welcome

Congradulations on your new CCD.
We also own a 28ft CCD , we love it.
Ours is an 04 , one of the very first built. We are very pleased with the Quality as well. I think you will find that Airstream really is the best there is.

Question: do you have the "Vista Windows", we like the idea but also like the added storage that we have without them.

Since you are in Ohio I highly recommend you try to get to "Homecoming"
It is a very good place to find out more about your unit and exchange info.

Congratulations Redeagle313! What a great gift you're giving to your family as they're growing up. Nice mileage with the diesel! I used to average 13.2 with a Cummins diesel pulling a 30 Holiday Rambler. I'm sure I would have been around 15 with the aerodynamic lines of an Airstream.

Congratulations on your CCD! We have a 2004 28' CCD and really enjoy it.

We're getting it out of storage this week and camping this weekend!

Are you going to Moraine View? Looking forward to meeting you.

Congrats again,

Dennis

Yes, we are going to Moraine View, and we are looking forward to meeting you too!

IWOTAIR asked about the Vista View windows over the dinette. Yes this is what we have, and it is very nice and open, but then again the extra storage would be nice too!

We won't be making it to the homecoming this year due to a scheduling conflict.

Congrats! You are going to have lots of fun once you master everything. We still haven't opened our canopies. Great family photo. Thanks for sharing.
