2002 International AS

We've had our 2002 22' International AS for about 6 months now. It's been great. Yesterday. I called Airstream customer support to try to confirm some configuration information. (I thought I was missing the belly pan). The rep asked what model year I had. When I told him he said: "we didn't make that model in 2002". Well, I pulled out my title and gave him the VIN. He then realized and agreed I did have a 2002, but it was a late in 2002 model year product. Late March 2002 he thought. He said 2003 models were comming out that summer and this could even have been a unit pushed forward to 2002. I asked for a model brochure, he could not find a 2002 brochure but did send me a PDF of the 2003 model. Makes me wonder how many 2002 International AS 22' were really made.

Congatulations on your new AS. We have a 2003 Intl model that was mfg open on the bottom. We enclosed it with insul and a bottom skin.

We've had our 2002 International AS since we bought it new in April of 2002. The manufacturing plate on the side near the exterior storage compartment says it was made "Mar 2002".

Thanks for the info Bob. I'm wondering why you decided to insulate and skin?
I was wondering if I needed to be careful of anything, since it is open now. Also, I wonder if you mind divulging how you got it covered and how much it might cost. Basically, should I leave well enough alone? I can see all underneath and diagnose/repair if I need to.

Tanker---It was enclosed the same as the classic models are. Purpose was to keep it warm, dry, clean. We had an AS service center in So Cal do the work in early 203. These folks specialize in mods and updates (C&G in Bellflower, Ca). I don't have a cost figure readily available, but a phone call to them or the service center in JC, Ohio would give you the current price.
