Julie, are the lay down tanks (in question) shorter? or are you referring to the stand up tanks? Thanks. Bill

Propane tank cover

Bill,
This is John...Julies' hubby. The tanks we are referring to are horizontal tanks...lay down tanks. They are tall...uh...long...but I do not know their rating. I could go out and measure them...or look for a tag...I'm sure they must be tagged somewhere.... John

propane tank cover

Let me clarify again. Julie is saying that on some of the rigs we saw at a recent rally, the horizontal tank covers seemed to be a different size than ours...like the cover itself seemed shorter. It could have been one of those optical illusions as we walked by they may have just APPEARED shorter. We are asking this question because our cover is cracked, and we would like to replace it. We called the Mother Ship only to discover that those covers were made right in Jackson Center...but the mold for these covers has been destroyed!

John / Julie - Please see my photos "check my 5 images" as part of my signature. Are your tank covers the same as mine? Thanks. Bill

If your tank cover is no longer available they are easy to repair. If you can't do it try and find someone who works with fiberglass, boat shop, kayak builder, and have them fiberglass the crack from the inside then fill the crack and repaint. I just repaired the hinge on mine last month before repainting. other than waiting for the glass to harden it took about a hour of my time.

propane tank cover

Bill,
Our cover looks just like yours. I think they are the same in length (depth?).

I have been told that they are unavailable. The molds were destroyed many years ago, and I think the only way you could get one is to find a wrecked airstream with horizontal covers. Sorry, but this is the best knowledge I have!

Limited tank cover

I was at the factory back in October. If I'm not mistaken, I could swear I saw one up high on a shelf

I think they were all the same GRP material.

My info came from Jackson center. Maybe they are holding one for a rainy day!

This answer is way late, but I have been going thru some old posts. Our tank cover is the same as the pics in your signature!
