Limited versus Excella

Hello everyone
Hoping for some expert help here.
I'm looking at a 1986 limited or a 1990 Excella.
What is the difference between the two? Bells and whistles or trim package, Quality?
Is the limited only built in limited numbers?
Both of them are very nice so it's a toss up.
Thank you for your help.
Thomas

Welcome to the forum and happy hunting.
I don't think there is much differance between the two you are looking at. Definately no difference in quality. Mainly differences in features or luxury items that you should be able to see. All Airstreams are/were built in limited numbers, just like anything else.

I think Excella was the 'classic' of its day, and had most of the bells and whistles. Limited should have 'all' the bells and whistles, including electric leveling jacks, etc.

Limited versus Excella

Thank you gentlemen!
As I later found out it is a Excella Limited that I'm looking at purchasing.
Your help and input is much appreciated. Electric leveling jacks WOW!
I feel many trips in my future.
I feel welcomed on here as a NEW GUY. What a refreshing feeling that is.

I think with the Excella you get a blue stripe and that is it at least in my 81.

The electric leveling jacks may be on the newer Limited models, mine does not have them. I believe the other Limited std features are the "wicker" type kitchen cabinet door panels, nutone kitchen system, wooden window valences, shade/blind package, interior trim and soft goods options. See the links below... should give you the info you are looking for!

My 98 Limited has the electric stabilizers - there are no leveling jacks on any Airstream. Stock, that is...no telling what some folks may have added.

Sorry about my slow response. Had a hail storm April 2, 2013 Baseball size hail and the airstream didn't mix well. After dealing with the house damage we have decided to repair the trailer. Both Front and Aft domes heavily dented and need to be replaced. One eyebrow window knocked out but very little water intrusion considering.

The Limited was/is considered the top of the line, with the Excella being the next model level down...sometimes. Kind of like the difference between and SL and SE model car. The options varied from year to year. I have found that as a general rule with Airstream the base models are a lot more rare than the fancy pants ones. Do a search for the Romany version.

Some years Excella was the top of the line.... Some years Limiteds were.
