Is it a 1988 or 1987

hello all and Seasons greetings! I bought (this past weekend) what is warrentied (the original Airstream warrenty booklet)and registered as a 1988 Limited (bought from original owner) however the "silver Edition" delivery book is a 1987 and has very little simblence to the one I got ie: LP bottles are horizontal on my unit and there seem to be two front jacks instead of the (1) on the tongue??. I also noted that on the forum "drop down box that the year 1988 is skipped. Any thoughts or words of wisdom?

Welcome to the forum!

From the description it sounds like you have a limited. We still have some holes in the trailer database, your model may have been missed. IIRC your trailer should have plates on it that say Limited, and done in Burgundy. The lay down bottles were available only on the Limiteds and the Front Kitchen models. The Jacks as you describe were a limited only feature too.

Thanks, It is trimmed in Burgendy and has the "limited" decals. The insurance company picks up my 5r tommorrow so I am frantically packing in preparation for picking up the AS on friday. It was quite a change when I went from a 31' Excella to a 36' 5r with slides so I am doing it in reverse and breaking out the trusty old Rubbermaid storage containers!

The Limited is one of the nicest looking Airstream trailers ever built, IMHO. Very classy. Congratulations!

Thanks, If I have near as much fun with this one as my 71 & 73 , I''ll be elated. My son also has a 69 29' Ambassador that I first saw in Cuba ( I was working)and which my brother bought and restored. He sold it to my stepson and as part of my brothers' restoration, he removed H2O tank and Holdiing tank as he dosn't dry camp.......so guess what my next project is?? haha.

I just bought a 1988 34' Limited, but the vin plate shows it was born on 12/17/1987. I guess it was close enough to 88. It too has the horizontal tanks located in a compartment under the living room window. Also, there are two jacks in the front, and no tongue jack. I like this set up as it is easy to unhook from the hitch and great for leveling...

Regards,

Reganzo
