21' Sovereign

I am looking puchasing one of these, mostly because of the lower toe weight than comparable units. Does anyone know what Airstream cuts out in order to make the Sovereign lighter.

I don't think they added it to the website yet.

To the OP: What are you comparing to?

This question is particularly applicable to years, not models. Some of the longest trailers built back in the 50's and 60's weighed no more than some of the shortest trailers built today. As time has gone by, less attention is paid to keeping the trailers light, whereas in the early days the lightness of the trailers was a key part of their mystique/design criteria.

So what has changed? Basically the thickness of everything, from the subfloor to the frames, to the to the inner and outer aluminum skins. Thicker is not always better--sometimes thickness is used to compensate for a material that has less strength (ie., a cheaper alloy).

If you are talking about the 1995 one for $24,500 it is on the website. Really nice trailer.

Yes, that's the one. A bit overpriced but everything's negotiable in life

Spoke to the dealer yesterday who has our 21 Sovereign for sale in consignment. Told him he priced it too high and we need him to sell it soon ... so he lowered the price (even though there is still plenty of room to go lower, so if you're interested, don't be shy to negotiate further down a bit ...)
