Interim Refrigerator Replacement Recommendations Sought; Gas Shutoff Valve Location
Dear Airstreamers,
We have an original Dometic refrigerator in our 1974 "International" Overlander that needs to be replaced. For now, we're looking for an interim replacement that can just be powered by an electric hookup to a service post, rather than a dual gas/electric unit. We'll likely be keeping the original unit nearby in the event a purist wants to try and fix it.
In the meantime, what are some recommendations for an interim replacement that will cost us notably less than the $1.9k cost of an upgraded Dometic ? The old frig is 56" H, x 24" W, by 21" D. It's a Model RM 77 running on 110 volts.
A related question is where is the LPG gas shutoff for the old unit ? The shutoff valve locations are obvious for the trailer's oven, stove, wall heater and hot water heater, but is not nearly so obvious for the frig as accessed from the exterior service door. Don't want to blow anything (or anyone) up here!
Finally, any advice that might assist the removal of the old unit is equally welcome, as this will be performed in a remote location.
