Polishing is so dirty to then provide such a shiny finish.

Looks great Chris! Like you, I haven't found much time to work on the AS. Life just keeps getting in the way. Sad she's not ready because now I have to go tent camping with my son next weekend.
Keep us posted on your progress and keep up the good work (like anyone really needs to tell you to do that).

The shine is looking great, it would be nice sometimes if life would just be more understanding of our projects!

Hey Chris,
I have my AC shroud off. The old white paint is bleeding off onto the side of the trailer when it rains and needs to be painted. I think a silver shroud blends in and minimalizes the size. I'm taking it to the paint shop today. Do you happen to have the paint chip number or color code? Thanks.

Lance The shroud I used was a new one from our mutual "friend" in California. It is fiberglass and the original one was plastic. mine was so badly degraded that it fell apart during removal. Are you sure your's will stand up and last?
As to the paint color all I know is that it was some sort of Ford silver. I left it up to the body shop manager at my Ford dealer to find a silver color that was close to aluminium. I called the deler just now and the manager will get back to me.
The pinstripe was an off the shelf thing that looked close to the Ford tractor blue I used to repaint the letters. Ford tractor blue can be found at TSC (Tractor Supply Company). I think you have TSC stores down there.

Thanks Chris. The shroud was replaced in August 2003 by a PO with a new $225 fiberglass unit from your friend's company. Appreciate the help, as always.

Hey Lance I got a message from the body shop. The paint code was either Ford TS or Chrysler PS2. He can't remember which one he used and would need to see the parts to tell which one they did use. He did not document the code so can't tell me for sure.

Thanks Chris,
I just got back from the body shop. He had a bunch of paint chips. I selected Ford TL I believe. They are all so similar and look different in different light. It'll look much better than before. My shroud is a bit different than yours though. It doesn't have a trim strip. It is a great idea to paint it silver in my opinion.

Oh the constructor isn't going to be happy about a new line on 'the list' but he will love the idea! Thanks.

Not sure if you got your paint already, but PPG has a line of metallic paints hot rod paints. There is one called "deep aluminum" it is actually a clear paint with finely ground aluminum. The match is almost perfect because, well aluminum matches aluminum pretty well.

Ann you can blame me for planting the idea in your head. i've got broad shoulders and can take it, that the the constructor won't be mad at you.

Frank great tip on the paint. Thanks.

It's been a month since I posted any updates and I don't really have much more done. I had to pull the trailer out today so the door company can come and fix the already fixed door. It never worked right since they fixed it last time and completely quit on the weekend.
So I thought I snap a couple of shots of the never ending story on polishing. I'm about halfway down the roadside on the first pass. I've got a couple of weeks left to try and get some more done before I get too busy here. I'll have to carry on again in Sept. after the season slows down. If I'm lucky I'll get the first pass done before July rolls in.
That's about all I'll be doing this year is finishing the polishing, maybe I can get the awnings on before winter sets in. I'm not going to be working on it this winter after paying last years electric bills to heat the shop.

Looking great Chris!
I have not gotten anything done in the last 2 weeks myself between work and family stuff. This week my 6 year old has her 1st dance recital.
Leaving Sunday with my 12 year olds Boyscout troop to spend a week in tents at Camp Thunder in Georgia (about an hour south of Atlanta)

Chris, That is incredible. Someone is going to want to buy that from you. Can't wait to see the trailer at Frank's.

Thank's Brad and Anne.
Brad I hope you have a good time with the Scouts.
Anne after all the hours I have put into this one it would have to be a very large check before I sell it plus I have a soft spot for this one as it is my first A/S and was my home for several years. Unfortunately the Buddha Baby is going to be on hold until next year. Finances have forced me to wait till next season before getting Frank to start on it. Thankfully he is very understanding about the delay.

Awesome looking trailer, Chris.
Can you put a wood heater in the shop?

Hey Chris, I thought I'd catch up on your progress. Like you, my summer has been way too busy and that puts the A/S on hold.
The last pictures you posted really show the difference dramatically. Great job!!
Hope you have a successful summer season. And hopefully the economy will begin to turn around some time soon.

Daniel Insurance won't allow wood stoves.
Lew Those last pics only show the first pass done, once further passes are done it looks even better. The weather and fuel prices are having a marginal impact on business but the greatest difference is in expenses. My bank made an error with the first 5 yr mortgage and are correcting it with the second almost doubling the payments. The only good news is that the business will be paid for in five years. Electricity costs are steadily rising. They are about to change the way we are charged for electricity. It's called the "time of use" pricing plan. It was supposed to reduce the cost when first discussed but from looking at it now I expect a 25% increase in electricity costs. So it's going to be a lean year combining lower revenue with much larger expenses. I may end up eating cat food this winter. LOL.
