Unless there were stabilizing jacks or support pilings used aft of the normal axle locations that tongue should've been lifted at least some - the trusty counter-balance weight of the trailers rear keeps the tongue weight manageable at 8-15%.

I'd really be interested to know what the weight is on your dry & stripped trailer at the hitch socket...

Great to see one who posts the good, bad and the ugly!

Someday?

The door company was here yesterday and disassembled the damaged parts to the door. It's not too bad. A new track for the door trolley, a new wind brace for the door, anew blet for the motor and reattach everything torn loose.
They are coming back today and after the took out the damaged parts I could open the door. They requested the trailer out of the way for the reinstall so this morning I hitched up and pulled the trailer. It also gave me room to pull out my van to make room for the guts of the trailer. The weather is supposed to be dry for most of the day so that's the plan. Move everything and then get the trailer back inside before the rain.
I took a few "someday" shots of the truck and trailer. Someday being once I get it all finished and get on down the road and get camping.

Wow does that look nice, Chris! But, you'd better get it back inside if our weather is moving your way. Snow, freezing rain, slush, windy, crappiest day of the year so far here today. And now we're getting thunderstorms!! Hopefully it won't make it over your way.

Len any idea how I could weigh it and get the tongue weight. Obviously I can't tow it to a scale to weigh it and I think it would be too heavy for a bathroom scale.

Tongue weight

(TW) The downward force that is exerted on the hitch ball by the coupler. The tongue weight will vary depending on where the load is positioned in relationship to the trailer axle(s). To measure the tongue weight, use either a commercial scale or a bathroom scale with the coupler at towing height. When using a bathroom scale, use the method shown and multiply the scale reading by 3.

WC, Actually, you can use a bathroom scale, assuming you have one of those old time analog dial scales, and not a new digital one. Get a 3 or 4 foot long piece of a 4x4, and about a 1 foot long piece of 2x4, and a couple of bricks or cement patio pavers. The 2x4 will straddle the scale side to side, putting pressure on both feet places. Place one end of the 4x4 on top of the 2x4 (which is on the scale), centering it on the scale so it will push down on both feet places equally. Then place the other end of the 4x4 on bricks or cement blocks that are same height as the 2x4 and scale combined height. The goal is to have the 4x4 level. Measure and find the center of the 4x4 between the 2x4 and the bricks (the two pivot points). Position this center point under the jack of your trailer, and raise the jack so the tongue weight of the trailer is carried on the 4x4. The reading on the scale will 1/2 the tongue weight. So, if it reads 250 pounds, then the tongue weight is 500 pounds. Just be sure the bathroom scale is large enough to handle 1/2 the tongue weight.

May not be 100% accurate, but it'll be close.

Thanks a lot guys, now I have to go ahead and weigh it to see what it is.
I'm just guessing but I think all the contents including, fridge, stove, furnace, water heater plus all the awnings must weigh close to a ton so the empty shell and frame/ axle assembly should be around 3500 lbs. That would make the tongue weight around 280 to 350 lbs.
Anybody else want to make a guess?

I weighed the tongue last night. It turned out that the old scale I have goes up to 300 lbs and then will keep going around again. I have the result and will post it after the weekend is over so more people can vote on the poll. Hint the poll is almost accurate.

Actually Sandy the poll winners will win a guest invitation to a practice forum on trailer polishing which will be held here and use my trailer as the test material. Absolutely no self interest involved with the practice forum, really I mean it.
