Roof Vent Lids

Ray thanks for the vote of confidence.
I tried a little experiment today. It took about 1.5 hrs to get this polished. I don't need it but know someone who does so I hit it with the compound and the polisher to see how it would come out. Really looks good. I just did the outside and if I get inspired I may try the inside which will be a little bit harder to run the polisher through.
Nothing else more exciting to report just hours and hours of polishing to do this weekend. Oh yeah my new cyclo arrived on Monday and will give it a try with the Nuvite S and see what it looks like.

Well nothing exciting to report except more damn polishing. It took 20 hrs to get the first cut done on the lower section curbside. I'm guessing the second will take 10 hrs and the third maybe another 5 hrs. BTW the belly does polish up too. I did the side wraps from the lower beltline until the frame rails. It just seemed silly to stop after getting below your sight line and not to continue another foot to reach the frame. I DO NOT repeat DO not intend to polish the entire belly. That's way too much work especially lying on your back with the polisher spitting everything in your face.

That looks superb!! We did similar last spring to our 31' using Nuvite, the flat cotton pads (using the flat portion of the wheel instead of the end) and cyclo. The compound curves seem to take so many compound passes I guess due to the way the alum was stretched to form. I can also understand your trials with the front. Ours was also full of nicks and scratches from road debris. I really need to redo that section on ours with C and S again now that my arms have re-gained strength!! Gotta love the way it shines up though...

Daniel- Chick Magnet?
Lew Thanks again
Tadd Thank you also.
I spent a few hours today polishing the trim along the bottom of the blue doubler strip. What a PITA to do 4 seperate edges to do and the wheel keeps wanting to jump off the edge.
I also did the second cut with the sewn cotton wheel and the black compound bar. Then did the third cut with the sewn cotton wheel and the brown compound bar. I use seperate wheels for each bar as per Caswell's suggestions. It looks pretty clear but I can still see some stripes in the panel. You can't see it in the pics but when you look at it on a differnt angle they are there.
I'm not really happy with the results and probably will go over it again with the black bar to get them out. The brown has no abrasive so it won't take them out.
