Today was a window day. Took out all of the vista view and those other oblong windows that look like vista views but are below the main windows.
Anyway, they were a mess. Took them all out and cleaned up the windows and inside the window casements.
They will be ready to reassemble as soon as I am ready.
Spent Saturday making a supply run and getting the new converter hooked up. I had a deep cell battery already from my generator. That was pretty neat. With assistance I got it squared away. The process was covered in this thread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f449...nel-74038.html
Now we have light!

I've discovered something that I love, love, love about my Airstream. Windows!
The plentiful big windows are awesome! And the screens!
I can imagine being up in the woods somewhere at night with the windows open (and the screens in) and just hearing everything that is going on outside.

They are called "stack" windows. You are moving along nicely, Daniel.

Bunch of pictures of stuff that I'm working on now.
As soon as I get the wheel wells attached to the shell I can finish attaching the floor and go ahead and get it bondo-d.

Hey Daniel how's it going? I have my eagle eye open again. In pic # 152 showing the umbilical connector I can see the front hold down plate. You didn't use pop rivets there did you? They sure look like pop's. First they're not strong enough and secondly they will leak like a sieve.
I have a question for you. Pic #156 the last one. What the heck is it?

Hey Chris,
Yeah they are pop rivets, and I don't like them at all. I gooped them up on the outside but will replace them when I get around to the 'bucking' phase.
The last pic.. I'm curious whether you've seen anyone to this before.
The shore power line. Break the circuits out in a box. Attach the box outside under the floor. Run the 3 circuit lines into the trailer. No distribution panel.. no breakers.

Daniel I would scrap that set up by the PO. I'm assuming that when he did away with the power reel that's how he rewired it. In no way does it get anywhere near the electrical code. If all three wires are connected to the shore power cord you will be supplying 30 AMPS to every circuit and the romex isn't rated for that much power plus you have no overload protection. If you do draw that much power by using high load appliances like electric space heaters you will melt the wires and start a fire.
If you don't intend on using a cord reel like original get a marinco shore power cord and connector and wire that to a breaker panel.

I know, right? Whoever did that was a wild dude...
Even if I use a reel like original, I'd still need a breaker box, wouldn't I?
That is some crazy stuff there...

Daniel,
Interesting things you are finding. I knew as soon as I saw those pop rivets in the front hold down plate that Chris was going to scold you!
The Marinco is a cool plug. VTS has a new one that looks a tad cleaner in my opinion.

Pop rivets are what happens when you get impatient to get something done and don't have the right junk to do it..
That is a nice looking plug. I've never seen those things before. My old motorhome that I had just had the plug (I think) wired directly into a converter. These plugs look like a much cleaner setup.
Thanks

Bring us newbies up to speed, what does NOS mean?
This is like reading a good novel, can't wait to see where it all ends

[QUOTE=DanielB;944903]I need a rest break.
Small but very important detail.. the JC channel is made for 3/4" plywood. Not. It is actually something like 1/8" less than 3/4".
.... This part has made me very sad but I am optimistic there are lots more happy parts to come. Keep up the good attitude, it is inspiring.

Ann NOS = New Old Stock meaning it is a new unused part but manufactured long ago and has been sitting in a warehouse or dealership somewhere.

There have been a few bumps in the road like that that have come up. I'm finding them easier to deal with if I can just slow down. Right now it is the windows.. I think that they will require more care and patience than anything that I've seen so far.

I chose option 2, cause I hate, hate jacking up the shell.
Once the chassis was back under, the options to get the wheel wells back on were
1) Remove a sheet or two of the floor, or
2) Remove the wheels
I chose option 2 again.
And now... drum roll, please.....
BAM!
The shell is back home!
I am so excited, relieved, and excited...
All that is left to do today is fit the last piece of floor, I left that loose because I wasn't sure of the measurement, clean up the big mess in the yard and put some duct tape around the bottom edge of the shell to ward off water..
In the picture of the rear, that is with the shell resting entirely on the chassis. The rear sag is just a tad over 3/4".
Awesomeness..

WAHOOOO!!!! If we do get to look back after we pass, you sure are making Wally proud! I just wrote Chris and told him I have determined the drive to his place. The Constuctor is in for a summer (season) trip for 2012. I think we should start a caravan to Chris's place.
