Buyer's Advice Sought; 2000 Excella, 31'

Well, I think I'm about to make my first AS purchase! Tomorrow my wife and I plan to visit a dealer who has a used 2000 Excella 31' on the lot, priced at nearly $19,000. We're pretty excited but I want to make it a good purchase. I've downloaded the inspection guidelines and have the spec. sheets so I will know somewhat of what to examine. Would any of you have any advice on particulars to look for? I'll also be needing to purchase the stabilizer and sway controls. My TV is a 2000 Suburban 2500, so we're good there. Thanks. We've been looking forward to jumping in with you all.

That sounds like a good price. I bought my 30' for 15k with no hitch from a private sale. If everything works and it looks clean go for it. Mine had a couple small character dents. If you brought cash the dealer might take 17k.

Being that it's a dealer they might have water and power to check systems. Or is this to much to ask a dealer? If so bring 5 gal water and generator. I looked for 4 yrs. and the good deals are either gone or in Florida so don't hesitate to long. A trailer this old will not be perfect so expect some maintenance that needs to be done. Check for water stains inside.

Thanks for everyone's reply. The evening prior this unit sold but the dealer said he had another model to show me. It was a year younger but my wife and I inspected it and it had not been taken care of. I could tell the dealer had done some inexpensive superficial work to show and sell but digging deeper into cabinets, behind drawers, in storage spaces, I found mice nests, grime, neglect and abuse. We declined and will keep looking. I remain excited but sobered.
