Help.. Can't find the LP detector

We are fairly new to Airstreaming and we need help..

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that can help me find my LP detector on my '93 Excella Classic? We want to replace it with a new one. I called Airstream and they assured me that all AS come with one.. They said it would be someplace near galley. I have looked high and low and I can't seem to find it.

Thanks,
Vickie

On my 1990 25' CB Excella, it is located just to the left of the entrance door at the bottom of the cabinet which houses the gas range and furnace. It faces the living area.

Same in our 87 25' Sovereign.

Perhaps the PO removed the detector, I would look for a caped wire(12 volt) in the areas suggested, probably enclosed in a removable panel.

In the big units the detector is hard wired in the hallway below the cedar closet.

Well you could always spray some hairspray around. Or eat a can of beans and wait.

Welcome to the forum LeeJ. As yours, my detector is located over the TV shelf street side behind the curtain.

If you are in the position of selecting a location for the detector, bear in mind LP gas is heavier than air and a location near the floor will alert you sooner to a possible leak.

Good grief, I have looked everyplace I can think of and all the places you have all mentioned and still can't find the LP detector. I had planned on replacing it once I located it and saw the configuration. When I called Airstream the indicated that all AS come equipped with one. But geeze I can't find it or anyplace that looks like it could have been.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions of where to look.. We are camping now and I'm keeping the LP turned off except before showers just to be safe.

Guess I'll just shop and install a new detector and try to find a good place to install it.

Once again I want to thank all you Airstreamers for your help.

Vickie

Ok..
Come in the front door. Make sure you trip on your way in. Stumble to the far wall and fall in head first really hard. When you regain consciousness and wake up on the floor face down, turn your head to the left. It should be right there.

I looked over every inch of my AS, even took it into an AS expert. He looked too. Finally had him install one...
