'91 Excella 29' need to repair or sell parts - Tree crushed rear bedroom
I am looking for advice as to wheather to repair our 1991 Excella 29' that was just damaged by a tree falling onto the rear bedroom. It buckled the skin at least 15 foot up toward the kitchen in addition to the rear being crushed. Insurance wants to total, I want to fix it. But if it costs more to repair than to replace it, I guess we will sell parts off of it. It was in excellent condition. Beautiful cabinetry and everything worked great. New AC, brand new frig just put in day before the tree fell on it. If anyone may be interested in parts, let us know.

Sorry for your loss.
Fotos would greatly enhance your chances of selling it off and/or getting advice.

What caused the tree to fall? I would get an estimate from at least 2 good dealers to repair before I made any decisions. This may be a good time to make any mods or changes if you plan to keep the trailer.

so sorry
I lost my first airstream (1978) to a tree. Being in Georgia my tree was a Pecan tree. The insurance company totalled it with no hesitation.
I have a slight regret that I did not try to buy the totalled unit since I turned around and bought a 1979 in need of restoration shortly after. Although it pains me to think about process I think I might have bought the totalled unit if the price was right, I had storage and I was buying a similar vintage unit.
Currently I have a 1986 Soveriegn and if I had to replace it today it would be with another 1980s or early 90s. If you have the same respect for that era of trailer I would consider buying the trailer from your insurance company. I bet you could find enough buyers of parts on the forums to almost pay for the unit.

Looks like that was the first and last post of that person. Last time they logged in was 12-29. I hope the insurance was generous.
