1992 Excella 25'
I didn't see a posting for this size so I am going to try putting one on now. Anyone else have this model?

We got one! It is a rear twin that has been 'temporarily' modified with a queen.
I always see ones older, often newer but rarely around '92.

Plasticoat?
What plasticoat? Mine has just about all peeled off above the blue stripe. It used to look like someone had poured acid on the top and it dribbled down the sides, making the sides look pretty bad. So I have been removing the remaining coating as best I can so it looks even all around. Then I am waxing the bare aluminum. It's been really hot so I haven't been working on it for several months but I will be working to finish this soon.
It seems that Airstream could have figured out a better solution to the aluminum oxidation problem. I wonder if they ever talked to some "real" chemists about this in the past?
A friend of mine paid around $2800 to have his recoated at C&G down around Bellflower (?) near Los Angeles. My wife and I are not quite ready to fork out this kind of cash.....we have a junior and senior in high school who are about ready to head off to college so will put up with my "fix" on this.

PandS Trailer Helena Ohio
We visited PandS trailer this summer planning to have our cleacoat redone. We learned that you must have a reservation, our trailer did not need redone just yet and the owners are stand up guys. We will plan on taking our EXcella 25 for a redo. Helena is a beautiful community unlike any other we have visited.
Our server at PandS was Kevin. He was very helpful and even gave us a place to park for the night. We saw the shop and some finished trailers that look better than new. You do need to make arrangements before hand and expect to pay between 3 and 5 thousand. But you will be good to go for about 5 years with no garage and 20 with a shelter.
We highly reccomend P and S and make sure you have lunch and breakfast at the local pie shop.

Instead of new plasticoat or polishing to a mirror-like finish we may instead opt to downsize to a newer/used 20 foot Flying Cloud. Reallly like the interior layout and without two kids in tow (they now work full time after successful college careers) we really don't need such a long trailer. We are "height challenged" so it is a good size for us plus towing up the Sierras in CA all the time with the 25 is a challenge...smaller might be better. Looking at two good 20s up at SuttonRV (on internet) of Eugene, OR.

I just acquired a '90 25' Excella - twin beds in the rear. This seems to be kind of a rare model. I've looked around a bit and haven't been able to find Airstream production numbers.
My wife and I are taking it on a six month adventure beginning in January. What major issues/minor annoyances should I try to anticipate?

Enjoy!
We had our 25' for over 10 years. Just gave it to our son.
I cannot think of any one thing that is inherent to a 25' that other trailers don't run into.
Just remember that it is over 20 years old so things will start needing replacing.
Might see you down the road sometime!

We have a '98 30 ft Excella. The clearcoat was a mess. I just finished polishing the top half...still have final finish to do. Took most evenings and a few weekends to do. Here is a before and after photo

We have a 1991 25' Excella. It is pretty much original except for plumbing upgrades. Tires are in excellent shape as is interior. Front couch has been recovered by professional upholsters. Furnace works as does air conditioner and all other fixtures and accessories. Have though of selling it but it would be eassier to sell our puddle that we raised from a baby. People that owned if before us took great care of it and went the extra mile to fix any issues. Floor has been repaired because of leaks but repairs were better than original.

We would like to remove the wallpaper in the bathroom. I've searched here and discovered the following methods: heat gun; steamer; Diff; vinegar and water. Anyone have experience with this and have something you recommend?
Thanks,
Poppy

Full of questions today...
Has anyone mounted a Fiamma bike rack on their late 80's, early 90's era Excella?
Thanks,
Poppy

We have a 25' 1992 Excella which we are currently upgrading. Twin bed of course. I'm disappointed in the lack of storage for larger items like folding cars, tables, outdoor mats, etc.

I installed two recliners in place of the gaucho and modified the cabinet in front of them in order to move the large table aft. To my delight two Airstream folding chairs fir into the modified cabinet perfectly.
