Droopy Ceilings

1997 25' Safari Has Sagging, Or Hanging Down Headliners - Can Anyone Suggest Methods Or Means Of Reattaching - Including Products Used, Etc. Help????

It Took Me Awhile To Find What You Told Me To Look For - But It Was Great. So Much Information & A Solution That Appeals To Us (thumbtacks) Thank You Again For The Referral.

We Are Leaving This Morning For The Trip To Utah To Pick Up The Trailer - The Cats Are Pacing- They Always Know When We're Leaving. We're Just Hoping That Our Purchase Was A Good One - Having Bought Only From Pictures Is Maybe Not So Smart - Especially Never Having An Airstream Before....i Think If We Had Been More Familiar With Airforums And All Of The Help Available & Advice - We Might Not Have Purchased A 1997 Because Of The Extent Of The Ceiling Problem Which We Assumed Was Not A Big Deal - Wrong ....well, We're Off- Think Positive Thoughts For Us - A Prayer Or Two Wouldn't Hurt. Thanks Again.

Ceiling headliner is drooping after being in undercover storage. When gently press it to the ceiling it is still sticky, but not enough to stay put. Please tell me how you figured it out (no holes please), so I can get it fixed. Thank you very much.

The fix is easy, but expensive, if you do not want holes.

The adhesive has failed.

You must remove the headliner material, and toss it, as the adhesive on the foam cannot be removed, without destroying the foam.

Next, all the adhesive on the walls, must be removed.

When applying new material, coat the wall with adhesive and then the wall covering that you wish to use. After a very few minutes, place the wall covering in place on the wall. Then run a wallpaper roller over the new material to make sure it has totally bonded to the wall. Make sure you use plenty of adhesive, don't skimp.

Putting new adhesive on the old adhesive either on the wall or wall covering, will not solve the problem. Again, the original adhesive was water based and that's the cause of the failure.
