Classic Question

While exploring the AS Trailer Forum (by model and year), I see that the Classic section begins at 2000. Classics were identified by name on the trailers earlier than this, but are not in this section. Are the earlier Classics different in some defining way? I am just fine with ours in the Limited group, but I am still struggling to learn about the units and to understand the organization. Why are the earlier Classics not included in this category? It's not "wide body" since that began in '96. I know some experts on this Forum will have a good explanation. Thanks for the information. I learn more everyday from all of you!

The setup of that section was based on the list of trailers from Airstream. There are pre-2000 trailers that have a classic badge, but are considered Limiteds, or have another designation before the Classic.

Airstream gets a bit odd in the naming of models and badging. We tried to go by the published list. If there is a model, or models that are missing we can add it, but I would like to try to keep the model tree structure the same as the Airstream publication if possible.

Hey, Brett... since when does Airstream REALLY know what they've done for naming? It's not exactly like they have a long-term history of naming conventions...

FWIW, the Behemoth is badged at the beltline under the forward side windows as "Airstream Classic". Then waaaaaay back on the back door, at the bottom trim line, it's badged "Limited". Gotta love Airstream and their naming...

That is why we went with their list. There is also the case where the units were built as a Safari, but were re-badged as a Bambi.........

I can add more versions, but the goal is to get "like" models together so the data is distilled down to the point that it applies to the models in a group. Like your lay down gas bottles. These were only available on the limiteds and the square streams.

I think all of the units in the 90s were Airstream Classics, like all units used to be Land Yachts.
