30ft with S/O changes - 2005 Classic

As a "newbie" to this forum I'm not quite sure how this works, but I'm going to give it a go.

I own a 2005 30ft with slide out. Purchasing my trailer used allowed me to get into the Airstream lifestyle and I love it, but because I bought used, I got what I got, not complaining, but I would like to make some changes but just not sure if it's possible or even prudent.

I'm not in love with the color scheme so would like to change that. I know the sofa can easily be changed, but has anybody changed out the dinette and and also all the valance boxes? Also, over the years the carpet has gotten kind of grungy and I would prefer not to have carpet in the trailer at all. Has anyone out there (who has a trailer with the slide out) removed the carpet in the living room area where the slide out is located? I would really love to get rid of the carpet but am reluctant to do so because it might compromise the operation of the slide out. So if you kind folks have ideas or recommendations, I'd love to hear from you.

hi and welcome to the forum,

RV's in general are just like a house/mobile home in the sense you can change any thing you want..

don't like carpet, remove it an install wood floors..
Dont like the color of drapes,, remove and get new one made in colors you like.

If you spend some time in the Interior Restoration forums Interior Restoration Forum - Airstream Forums

you will see how easy change can be, provided you are capable of doing or learning how to do.

I have been looking at the 30 ft slides as well and had a couple questions..??

what are you pulling with, suv, pickup and size of motor.? how does it do in mountains and how much more room does the slide afford when open.

how about pulling issues,, are they stable, pull easy-hard etc.. feel heavy behind you when pulling..

The price is one thing kinda keeping me from getting real serious on AS's. I have a 2004 Zeppelin 28ft SOB in my area with slide for 6K.. 04 Zeppelin 28ft camper

guys was saying there are some soft spots in floor due to water heater leaking so i figure 1000 bucks to get that fixed but dang.. so when i tell my wife we can get a 2003 30' classic with slide for 34k vs this 2004 28/30 with slide for less than 10K, guess which one she likes.. SOB..

oh well welcome aboard..

valences are easy to change. I have changed mine twice. You can even change the shape of the valences if you have one of the frilly ones.

All it takes is a Phiilips screwdriver, a staple remover, a saw if you want to change the shape, some fabric, and a stapler.

Be aware that apparently Airstream pays by the staple. There are literally hundreds of staples in the valences.
